Just curious,do you buy Atkins or other low carb products or just eat "normal everyday food"? I'm not doing Atkins, but must admit I was very impressed at my daughter's weight lost on it,so I decided to lower my carbs also. I'm not on Atkins or any particular diet but have lost a little over 20 lbs in a month. The only thing I have bought, other than regular food was Thomas carb counting bagels and Carb Solution candy bars and even then I only eat 1/2 bagel and 1/3 of the candy bar.If you haven't tried them I highly recommend Carb Solutions chocolate caramel-so good I feel guilty eating it!
Hi Dianne
I just purchase regular food except Arnold's low carb bread. I find that any of the Atkins products are very expensive. Staying away from bread, pasta and rice has really made a difference, but I sure do miss them.
I don't want to feel too deprived and binge later on,so must admit I make biscuits once a week and only make 3,one for me and two for Tom! When I do this I try to justify by really watching everything else I eat that day. :-)
Don't forget.... you can eat
the topping off of the pizza
a lettuce-wrapped six dollar burger at Carl's
low carb ice cream
sugar-free pudding that is quite good
steaks, hamburgers, bacon
and loose weight!

Ummm, yes I know, and I love to put that ice cream in a diet soda for an ice cream float-root beer,Sprite,Mt Dew or 7 up! I want this not to be a DIET-a dirty 4 letter word to me but eating in a way I can live with.
Regular food. Except I do like the Atkins chocolate bar. It's delicious!
It's been my observation that a lot of people say they are "doing atkins" and they are not getting good results. They have NOT read the book and UNDERSTOOD exactly how it works.
I have lost about 25lbs on the Atkins diet (in about 6 months). My blood pressure has improved, and I look and feel a lot better.
We eat mainly regular food (lots of red meat, fish, chicken, green vegetables, cheese, eggs, nuts, berries, and limited quantities of wine) and avoid hi carb foods such as bread, sweets, pasta, rice, potatoes, processed cereals, beer and fruit juice. We buy the Atkins Endulge chocolate bars (very good) and a few other low carb treats for snacking or desert. Quality vitamin and mineral supplements are also important and you must drink lots of water.
My Mom lost over 40lbs in under a year (she just turned 80). The diet is great, but I suggest that you read the book cover to cover. I can also recommend the South Beach Diet; this book goes into even more detail about the low carb approach and gives you a little more flexibility with carbs.
We have found that it doesn't cost any more to eat this way.

I lost 50 lbs during the last year on Atkins'. I eat mostly regular foods but supplement with the Atkins' Shakes to replace some of the eggs I was eating. My cardiologist had a fit when I told him I was eating eggs every day. I've cut it down to 3 times a week for breakfast, but still cook with additional eggs if required by the recipe. I also love the Atkins' chocolate bars but I cannot continue to lose weight if I eat one.
This is one of the most interesting threads on this forum in a long, long time. Since returning from an indulgent cruise in late December, I have lost and maintained a loss of 25+ pounds. We started with an old Atkins book that we borrowed from a neighbor. The outlined diet had been highly modified by the neighbor and was further modified by my wife, Shirley, and me.
The end result was that we cut down on portions, reduced the intake of "white stuff" and almost completely did away with desserts and snacks. Lots of tea and water, and increased the number and variety of fruits and vegetables. It is an easy lifestyle to manage. No lists, no weighing, no measuring. Just lots of thinking and following the common sense rules that we all should be living by anyway.
