Here is a recipe perfect to make ahead before camping.

Stew Meat (around 2 lbs)
2 cans cream of mushroom soup
1 package lipton dry onion soup mix
1 can sliced water chestnuts
1 package fresh sliced mushrooms

(It calls to add a little water but it gets a little too watery so I would leave that out)

Mix everything together and bake around 275 to 300 for 3 hours.

It makes a its own gravy so make mashed potatos or rice to go with it.

We have a similar recipe. The basics are: meat, vegetables, and soup. Can be made in the oven, on top of the stove, or over coals in a dutch oven. Cook covered with a tight lid at low temperature (275-300) for a long time. I always brown the meat, but you don't have to, and I add potatoes, carrots, celery and onions with concentrated tomato soup. There is no right or wrong way to make it. Put whatever you like in it.

I don't put a cover on it. It seems to watery when I do. I don't brown the meat either. What does that do?
