Anyone have any expierence with slide on camper mirrors. I have stock mirrors on a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD DMax. I'm hoping to find something that will work for the couple of times we plan on taking our used (but new to us) slide in Northstar camper. Thanks for any and all advise.

I used a set on my 97 GMC. They shook and vibrated so bad they were absolutely useless. I threw them in the garbage

If you want cheap and something you can pick up at most auto parts places here are some.

Here is a set of slide on mirrors. A friend has these and doesn't like them.
CIPA Slip-on Tow Mirrors

A co-worker has these and he really likes them.
CIPA Universal–Fit Towing Mirror

I have these and like them. Cipa Adjustable Clip-On Towing Mirror

Here are some more expensive mirrors.

I have the CIPA slip-ons. They really don't vibrate all that much but they are not wide enough for my 5th wheel. They were perfect for my old 6 foot wide truck camper. They are probably good for utility trailers and pop-ups but 8 foot wide campers are a bit too wide.

I use the CIPA slip on's too - they do the job but are definatly not the best choice out there. If I was in heavier traffic all the time or backing into tight spots a lot I would be looking for something else as the visibility is not that great out of them. They suit my needs for now.

I had slide on mirrors, my new ford has trailer tow mirror on it, wow what a difference, save your money and get a good set of mirrors!

I use the slide on type and am quite happy with them. After I put them on with their normal clip, I also use one of those very small bungee cords wrapped around the back of each of them at a point close to the body of the truck. To use these bungee cord (hooks) as stiffeners I have drilled two very small holes on each slip on mirror in the face of them (the narrow overhang so to speak) so that the hook from the bungee cord fits inside the truck mirror case. (You have to push the clip on mirror frame up or down as the case may be when you are putting the hooks in place). It really holds the slip ons tightly to the original mirror case and does not vibrate at all. You do have to modify the hooks on the small black bungee cord though to make it long enough to hook into the regular mirror case. It takes about an extra 5 seconds to install on each side.

I have the CIPA slip on mirrors and they work great, no vibration and I can see clearly behind the 5er. I had the CIPA universal mirrors and they are garbage, cheap plastic clips to hold on the mirrors that bend out of shape the first time you use them. I had to make some metal clips and even after getting them as tight as possible they vibrated like crazy and never stayed adjusted. The cost more then the slip ons too!

I am satisfied with the performance of my CIPA slip ons for my Siverado 2500 HD. No vibration at all. Go on and off easily. Pain in the rear to adjust without the help of someone to do the adjusting while you do the looking. I would rather have fancy aftermarket power extend and adjust mirrors but the cost is prohibitive as an add on.
