I remember as a kid in school getting served this lunch which was a finely strewn chicken in a gravy sauce that was poured over a bicuit. As a recall, it was fantastic! Does anybody have a recipe for this? I don't think it is the same as an A la King or Chicken and dumplings. Any help would make me and my belly forever grateful.
Hi all! Was wondering if anyone could recommend a campground to me around North Carolina on the way to Disney World. The family is planning a trip down from New York next summer and I was gonna break the trip up over two days.I 'm looking for something not too far off the beaten path.Any help would be appreciated. Happy RVing!
Do you mean, the chicken in a white gravy (bechamel) sauce? I found a great mix for sausage gravy, (Southeastern Mills' Old-Fashioned Pepper Gravy Mix) comes in envelopes and keeps forever; you just add water and cook it up and add your fried sausage meat. Fantastic!. Why can't you panfry or grill your chicken meat, shred it off the bone and add it to the hot sauce, make Bisquick biscuits, split them and pour it over them? Add a salad or green beans and there's dinner!
My kids enjoy something I throw together that's fairly easy. At stove top I heat/cook chicken, peas, cream of chicken, and/or cream of mushroom. Make it to whatever liquid consistency you want and add whatever vegetables you want. Fresh mushrooms, some cooked bacon crumbs, or even some cheese. Salt and pepper to taste. Pour it all into a baking dish; cover with biscuits popped from a can; bake in an oven until the biscuits look done. Depending on how you scoop it out and put it on the plate the biscuit can be under or over the chicken mix.

Ohhhhh......my favorite. Combine some cooked, cut up chicken with either cream of chicken soup and milk or some homemade or canned chicken gravy. Heat thru and add some vegies (peas, broccoli, your choice). Serve over biscuits. When I cook chicken I will made extra intentionally to make this dish. Serious comfort food. Oh my, now I am hungry for some, as my mother called it, "creamed chicken".
In response to your question about a convenient campground in North Carolina - If you are looking for something very basic w/power and water I would suggest the Interstate Inn & RV Park. It is in Roanoke Rapids, NC and just off exit 173. I stopped there 5 or 6 years ago and it cost us $10. I expect the price has probably gone up but it is convenient with pull thru sites as well as back ins. Its right behind the Interstate Inn (you can see the signs from I95)
As I said, very basic - but definitely convenient.
Another spot in Dillon, SC is South of the Border. I know the spot looks very tacky, but I was amazed at how nice the campground was. I can't remember how much it was, but I don't recall it being real expensive. Good luck and have a great trip.
2 cups diced, cooked chicken
2 hard-boiled eggs
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup half and half cream
salt to taste
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. melted butter
Combine the cooked chicken, hard-boiled eggs, chicken broth, and half and half. Bring to an almost obil. Add salt. Combine flour and melted butter. Add to mixture to thicken. Serve on buns. (Sometimes I leave out the hard-boiled eggs and then serve over biscuits.)
