Made this tonight, always turns out great, can't be easier.

1 whole chicken
1 can of beer
your favorite rub

open the top of the beer can, shove it up the chicken's butt, stand it on something to catch the grease, bake @ 350 for an hour, serve

here's what it looks like:

LOL! I heard about this last weekend! Sure enough, your photo is exactly the same as the mental image I had when I heard about it! :-P. My wife is anxious to try it out. Now that we have heard about it from two different sources, I guess we will. Let me ask you; is there a distinct taste to the chicken because it was steamed inside by the beer?

We call it "drunken chicken"

Same except I use a 6 pack of beer.Cook on grill with charcoal and let the grease go into the fire. Bout 1 1/2 hours. Cut the thigh off and make sure it's done.

Put a half a can up chicken's butt.....DRINK THE REST while it's cookn'.

Enjoy,

I haven't noticed a difference in taste between different brands of beer.

YMMV

a google search gives a lot of different recipes

and a froogle search gives a lot of cooking gear to make it click here but totally unecessary as you can see by my picture.

have fun with this!

Poor chicken. LOL

I've seen the racks for this at Wally's for $4. This was at a Super Wally's and it was displayed near the beer. Also somewhere else in the store, I think either in the camping section or near the grills or in the kitchen stuff. I forget now. The kind I saw does not have a drip pan under it and is for a single bird. Camping World has a rack that holds two birds.

This can be made using most anything, such as cola or lemen lime or orange pop. I've also read of people using Cornish game hens and small cans of orange juice or other juices.

One of my favorites, both camping and at home. I have a couple of those Wally World stands and I just set them right on the cooking grate (no pan). For the those who turn up their nose at beer, try a soup can, half-filled with your wine of choice and some rosemary floating in it.

This is the only way I cook chicken now. In fact, I'm leaving for the rest of the week with the kids camping and I'm doing up two for my husband to eat while we are gone. I use soda because I refuse to waste an Amber Bock on a chicken! I rub some Chef Paul's seasoning on it and throw them in the oven and forget it. I always cook 2 at a time.

The only thing I would add to the receipe is putting an onion in the
the opposite end the beer can goes in. Adds flavor and also helps
to keep the heat in the internal part of the chicken.

Instead of using the beer can we use the "chicken rocket" found at True Value. Made of cast iorn and we pour coke and stuff with onion and bellpepper, then sit the chicken on it. Cooks in half the time.
The only way to cook chicken at home or camping.
