Washboy! ditto on all said. No protectants here either. I feel like a Charter Member of the BKC (Bruised Knee Club). I've been up in 100' arials (ladder truck compnaies) but that was different. Put me on top of a 5'er and watch me buckle lmao!
Instymp.... It's not bad really. A waste of money to pay that much. Think of all the camping and fuel you could buy with that money. The post Truth Justice made is also very informative. Have a relative who doesn't mind just jump up there and knock it out. My son does mine in about 20-30 minutes. Atta Boy son, you 'ol agile monkey you!
I used the rubber roof cleaner sold by RV dealer. Utilized a sponge mop, hose, and I think a bucket. Did a 3-4' square section at a time, rinsed off and moved to next section. Looked like brand new when completed. Also, while washing it, I noticed holes in roof which we found out later to fault of factory and now going to have new roof installed in Sept. Be sure to either rinse off or wash sides of 5er when done so as to remove the******that runs down the sides..

WOW, AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE AFRAID OF HEIGHTS --ESPECIALLY ON MY 5VR. I JUST HATE GETTING UP "THAR" FOR ANYTHING.
And, I am a retired airborne troopie who loved to jump and repell from copters and anything. But put me on a ladder, on top of the RV or up in the Sears Tower in Chi town -- me don't feel gud....
Thanks all. And Yes, for $800 I'll wash your roof AND the sides tooo.

Besides the fact that you will be saving $800 you will have the satisfaction of knowing that the job was done right.
Just remember it is not that high and you won't break too much if you fall.
I use a ladder and brush on a pole to scrub my rubber roof. Do once a year with 50/50 solution of water and simple green. Do roof in thirds. Wash and rinse well especially where water runs off gutters. Also do awning, roll up and after washing roof, unroll and rinse well. Comes out pretty clean. Also do not use and protectants. JMHO

I just did mine, as well as inspect. I used no cleaner, just a soft scrub brush that we use to wash the cars. Works great. Oh yea, i forgot, until i was up there, that it is very slick. and curved across the top. Well, i almost went off the side, then decided to stay down the middle. Washed up real well. I waited until the roof had dried until i tried to get down the 6 foot step ladder, so i would not slip off the end.
Quote: My local dealer recommends Palmoliove dishwashing soap. Said it has no petroleum and won't harm roof.
I am not saying it is harmfull but I have been working on cars for nearly 20 years and the manufacturer I work for has put out a bulletin stating not to use dishwashing soap on a vehicles painted surface. It states that the detergent is very harsh to the paint and causes "drying" of the paint and removes wax and other protectants from the pores......If this is true I cant see it being good for a membrane roof.
