We have been enjoying local corn on the cob along our travels and we have a terrifically simple way of doing it - no boiling water - no muss - no fuss.

Don't shuck the corn - put your ears in the microwave (best if you have a turntable) and nuke for 3 min. for each ear. I only do 3 ears at a time - 9 min. When you take it out, let it cool a bit and then shuck it and I always rub a paper towel over the ear to remove any remaining silk. It shucks so easily and the flavor is wonderful. We call it "Wal-Mart corn" because we put a Wal-Mart bag on the table to put the shucks in and the cobs after we have enjoyed our feast!

Thanks for all the great recipes you folks share.

Another good, easy way to cook corn is on the grill.

Shuck the corn and remove the silk. I rub each ear with a little butter and season with salt and pepper and put the ears on my hot grill next to whatever meat I'm grilling - but the butter and seasoning isn't necessary if you perfer.

Turn each ear 1/4 turn about every 3-5 minutes (depending on how hot the grill is) or when the down side is beginning to brown.

No muss; No fuss; Just good corn.

I have 2 great methods.
1. Don't shuck the corn, remove the silk only, soak in a bucket of water for 1/2 hour or so and then put it on the grill for about 20-30 mins, rotating ocationally. Mmmmm.

2. Mix horseradish sauce with soft butter, garlic, dill, and thyme. Slather on the ears of corn and put in a grilling foil bag and grill as usual or it can be done in an over. Scrumptious!

I love the idea of doing the corn in the microwave; with only 2 of us it seems silly to boil a big pot of water.
I will definitely try this with our next sweet corn feast!

If it's shucked already you can wrap in waxed paper and nuke for 3 minutes as well. I've also used a zip lock bag.

Corn is soooo addictive!

I wrap shuck corn in foil with a little butter or margarine and BBQ on low heat along with the meat I am cooking for about 10 minutes on each side. Turns out great each time.

I love the microwave method, but when the grill is on or we don't want to use the juice, we put the unshucked ears on the fire for about 20 minutes. I have a dedicated pair of cotten gardening gloves with those rubber beads on the palm that I wear when shucking the hot corn. Run your hands down the cob and you can remove most of the silk with ease!

There are only two of us too and I always hated boiling the water and having another pot to wash. This way is soooo simple and it's soooo good. I started doing it this way at home and decided it would be great to try in the RV since there are so many road side stands selling it this time of year. We have been taking it with us or buying along the way all summer. Enjoy!!!

ANOTHER WAY is; remove only the silk, spread butter or mayo on corn, pull shucks UP to cover corn again and pop in microwave or grill.

WE LOVE OUR CORN STEAMED. This takes longer, but if you are steaming anything else.....say new potatoes.....(taters so good not done in water)......add your corn ...on or off the cob, and steam about 20 minutes....ohhhhhhhhhh soooooooooooo good. No water added to your corn.....tender and delish. Nothing but flavor.

Think I'll have to have some tomorrow after this thread.

Happy traveling AND EATING !!!!
