Using a juicer, remove all of the juice. You can use the juice in alot of recipes. Martha Stewart had an episode recently where she was juicing pomegranetes.

You know the fruit salad you have at thanksgiving, with the little marshmallows and whipped cream? Pomegranets are REALLY good in that. YUM, it's a lot of work but its good.

There is nothing better than pomegranete jelly!!! Yummmmmmm! Depending on how much of the white membrane around the cells and peal gets into the juice it may be a little tart. It's the best when done right!

Happy traveling . . .

Wow! Thanks for all the suggestions! I had no idea there were other uses other than eating it straight or in fruit salad. Karen

Grenadine (grenadine syrup) is a blood-red, strong syrup made from pomegranates. It is the number one among fruit syrups, and is used in many cocktails not only for sweetening, but also to give them a red color.

Hi mckaren,

We, too, have made delicious jelly with pomegranates. When we were in graduate school (with NO money) we got our two kids together to make jellies to give away for Christmas presents. The pomegranates make a really terrific red jelly, we used mint for green (with a little green food coloring to help), plus grape and apple. We packaged them in small jelly jars. We then got some small, shallow baskets, put one of each type of jelly into the basket, wrapped it in colored cellophane and put a ribbon on it. It was a great way to show our kids that one doesn't have to be rich to give presents and that home-made presents are often the best.

Enjoy the pomegranate jelly (or however you decide to fix them)~!

How wonderful, to have a pomegranate tree! I would feel like Persephone in the Underworld; I know I'd never come back, because I surely would eat more that 6 seeds!
When I was small I was so fascinated (as what child is not) by the beautiful ruby-clear seeds gleaming in the leathery red fruit), that I asked for and got one for my birthday. Ever since then I have received one on that day in November.

For your Labor Day cookout:

Texas Lemonade for 2
In each of 2 tall glasses:
6 oz beer
6 oz. cold lemonade
1 jigger Grenadine
Ice to fill the glass

A very pretty and refreshing drink!

I think I am going to try the Jelly! I was in the grocery store today and they wanted $2.00 each. I love the taste of the fruit and I feel very fortunate to have an unlimited supply! McKaren
