Orange Pop/soda Chicken (Crockpot)

4 - 4oz. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
12 oz. can orange soda (diet pop is okay)
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 cups instant rice

Place chicken in crock pot. Combine soy sauce and
orange soda in medium bowl. Pour over chicken. Cover; cook on
Low 5 to 6 hours. During the last hour remove chicken, stir in instant
rice and place chicken back on top of rice. Cook for one hour then
serve.

If you wish, instead of adding the rice to the CP, you can remove the
liquid from CP and bring to a boil in separate pan. Add rice and cover
and remove from heat. Allow to sit for 5 minutes and serve with
chicken.

This is a recipe shared at weight watchers
very easy, yummy! just a variation of above recipe...

Chicken breasts(frozen or thawed)
1 cup Ketchup
1 can soda (diet or regular)
Put it in crock pot in am...cook until dinner
It sounds gross, but REALLY it is great!
Some people at the meeting used orange, root beer, etc
LOVE recipes with less than 5 ingredients

I'm really brave - trying this recipe for the chicken in my crockpot in the brand new 5th wheel. No, not camping, still sitting in our back yard but anxious to use our kitchen and try out the new crockpot with this recipe. Invited friends who want to see the 5er and for dinner too - menu is the Orange soda chicken, salad, and the Holy Cow Cake. If the chicken is half as good as the cake, it will be wonderful. It will be our first meal in the new rig as well as our first 'entertaining'. Hope all goes well!!!!!

Okay, first successful dinner in the new 5er. Friends came over to take the grand tour and we had salad, the Orange Soda Pop Chicken and the Holy Cow cake. The chicken had cooked most of the day in the crock pot and I just used regular chicken thighs and not the boneless skinless ones. The rice was done to perfection and the chicken was falling off the bones. It was really good. The only thing I can see is that if you use the boneless skinless ones they have less grease - this wasn't too greasy but it would have been maybe better if I had sprung for the expensive cuts instead. But they raved over it anyway - it was really good. I love things in the crock pot - so easy to fix and clean up after. And the cake was the absolute hit of the meal. They raved about it too. I think if you are just cooking for two, you could use a Jiffy mix and make it in an 8x8 pan and just use 1/2 of the caramel and a smaller Cool Whip and a small cream cheese and 2 Heath bars and it would be plenty for someone who doesn't want to make the whole 9 x 13 size. It's not something that I think would freeze well because of the cream cheese and Cool Whip.
Both recipes are definitely 'keepers' and I will use them again and again.

Now, next time, what will I try............? Come on and list some more good recipes!!!!!

And, by the way, they LOVED the new 5th wheel - just raved over the decor and the room we have now.

Happy Trails!
