I make these sugar cookies every year to give out as gifts at Christmas. They are easy to make. I have had friends tell me that this is the best cookie they have ever had and that I can never stop giving out these cookie.

Holiday Cutouts

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
2 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Mix powder sugar, butter, vanilla and egg in bowl. Stir in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Cover and refrigerate at least 3 hours.
Heat oven to 350. Divide dough in half. Roll out on lightly flour surface 3/16 inch thick. Place cutouts on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or till light brown. Cool on wire cookie rack. When cool, frost with your favorite frosting. Homemade or canned.

I make a cookie with similar indgredients. I will give this one a try! The powdered sugar in them makes them so good, I think?? Mine also calls for powdered sugar.

Thanks for posting!
