Just returned from dealer with our new 2005 KSDP 3910. Three of the slide outs have "awnings" on top of them to avoid debris accumulating on the slide. The patio slide does not have one. We will be parked in a very wooded area for the next four weeks (to complete our work requirements) and then we will be traveling full time. The patio awning is an A&E WeatherPro.
Should we leave the patio awning out part way to cover this slide out? Should we leave it out part way when we are not "home"?
don't leave it out if there is any chance of high winds.
just be sure to sweep the roof of the slide off before retracting.
why didn't they put an awning on that slide however would be my question.
With WeatherPro, if the winds get up to 18 mph, it retracts automatically. However, that being said, if you know the winds are going to exceed that, it might be prudent to close it. Also, the manner in which one end lowers when it accumulates enough water from rain is also a wonderful feature. We love ours.
Ours has a topper on that slide as well as the others. I would have them put one one it, you won't be sorry, but I think you will regret not having one. You won't want to get up there and clean it off everytime you pull out. And I agree don't leave the awning out when not at the coach.
