We will be going full time in about a month. We currently have Direct TV at our house (which we are selling) and a receiver on our RV. Am I better off just concelling our current subscription and starting from scrath with Direct TV, or, is it fairly easy to have them switch the account from a house to an RV?

It is easy to switch. Just call and have them send you an RV Declaration. After you file that you will be able to subscribe to Distant Network Services to get the national networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox) anywhere in the US. There is an extra fee of about $5 or $6 per month for that.

If you don't want DNS you don't have to do anything. DirecTV has no way of knowing if you move your receiver from the house to the RV.

There's no need to have DirecTV send you an RV Waiver -- you can download it from this site: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/Learn/DNS_Vehicles.dsp. Read carefully the information about the DNS application -- with DirecTV there will be some programming you will not be able to have because you will no longer be hooked up to a telephone line:

"To take advantage of some DIRECTV services, you must keep your DIRECTV® Receiver continuously connected to a land-based phone line. Since this isn't possible while your receiver is in your vehicle, you won't have access to these services:

**All professional and college sports subscriptions, such as NFL SUNDAY TICKET™, NBA LEAGUE PASS, MLB EXTRA INNINGSSM and NHL® CENTER ICE®.
**Your local regional sports network, if you subscribe to a TOTAL CHOICE® package or the SPORTS Pack.
**Ordering pay per view movies by remote control.

When you return the Declaration of Intent form, we will review your account for these services. If you currently have any sports subscriptions, you will no longer be able to watch them from the receiver in your mobile vehicle."

You do not have to cancel your current subscription. Unless you have a sports package or something that requires a full time phone hook up. Also local channels if you are getting them now. And you can just cancel that part of you subscription.

You do not need to tell them you are fulltime RV. Just tell them your change in mailing address. It is no different then moving from one home to another home in a different state. You can sign up through your account on their web site for the bill to be taken care of with a credit card each month.DirecTV Web site

If you want DNS, download the form and send in. The DNS form doe not mean you are fulltime. It just shows them that you do have a RV and it is registered to your mailing address. It is $9 month extra now for DNS.

They think my receiver is in the living room at my mailing address. And it has never been there. I have not had a phone line to my receiver for over 5 years now. And last month I added a HD second receiver to the RV for $5 month more with no phone hook up to any receiver.

I've had DirecTV DVR and have not needed phone connection. It is only used for ordering programs with your remote. If I want something, I order it over the website. The box does remind you everyday to connect a phone line. But it is not required.

I upgraded to a High Definition DVR (TIVO/receiver) and it required a phone connection to set it up. I could not get past it at all. Luckily I was in a park with free phone service at the time. Hopefully I won't need the phone line again.

We have 2 receivers in our MH. We have had national network channels while traveling. We came back to Phoenix for a couple months and I called them to switch back to area channels. He set them up but told me he would keep the nationals on since we would be traveling on. No extra!! Nice guy!.

I am thinking about putting DIrect TV in my motorhome. Whaqt is the initial costs and what is the monthly for basic services? Do I need anything special or can I just buy it at Radio Shack?

When Goose and I started to full-time we called DirectTV and had them
install 2 receivers in our 5t wheel.
One in the bedroom and one in the livingroom.
Paying 49.00 per month, it follows us where ever we co.
Dial in the zip code and we get the local chanels.
