Just gotta brag.

As a new full timer, of course I had to find out
all the bumps in the road first hand, my first
time out. This pushed me into getting real smart
real quick with all the new computer/communication products.

After a month went by, I soon found out that I had
no way to receive and/or pay my bills, communicate
with friends and family, plan my trips, enter shows, etc.

I bought a used IBM thinkpad Laptop off Ebay, upgraded
it to go fast, and then started buying the essentials.
Small and light weight is the RV'rs thinking. I bought a
wireless mouse the size of my palm and the USB connection
is only 2 inches, and plugs back into the mouse when not
in use. A printer that scans, prints, and copies all in one,
which is the size of a brief case!

Of course, Bank Of America was the first item at hand.
Then I bought a Sony Edge card for interent access, no
phone required, the size of a business card.
A GAIT nationwide phone, which I have never been without
coverage yet on either the phone or internet card!

I travel alone so being able to communicate and take care
of all my personal items on the road is a must.

Boy, how 'did' our ancestors ever full-time with out all
these wonderful new modern conveniences?

Satellite, toad, and maybe one of those new GPS thingys
are next on my list of 'must have'

Did I miss anything?

We must be willing to get rid of the life we've planned,
so as to have the life that is waiting for us.

My DataStorm!

What is a DataStorm?

I have a hand held CB called the Road Warrior
and it has a button for instant weather for
where ever you are and you don't even have to
know where you are!

Hey Sonneyboy..... I once thought about going Modern, with those new fandangled modern conveniences, BUT, realized that there are also downfalls to them..
Take for example.....
I went into a new super walmart just last week, and wife spotted one of those new electric can-openers, and thought she wanted one....
WEll, I pointed out the fact that we didn't have the room to store it, and besides, where would she possibly get the exersize for her little fingers, if not for opening the cans the ole fashion way...

I believe she saw the light, mumbled something under her breath, and she headed off for groceries, and I went to find a new electronic fish finder...
So, I guess some new modern stuff is good, and some are just a luxury....

Hi

I read with interest your article about communications. We have been fulltiming for 5 years and loving it. However, recently, my Sprint phone and tether to the internet died. I am now trying to decided what to do. Sprint has an air card for $150 and PCRV has one for $200 plus a monthly fee. What is a Sony Edge Card?

I would appreciate hearing from you and any info you have.

Thanks.

Interesting things we all have to have to live in our "tech society."How did our forefathers ever find their way and live as happy as they did. Sometimes I wish I lived back then, life was much simpler and I think Happier.
Anyway, could you tell us more about the Edge card and the Gai phone

Life is too short.

Lou, do you have that Direcway Satelite Internet Dish and Plan? I have been reading up on it a bit and was hoping to find someone who had it. Is it any good? Have any problems moving around with it? We are going full time later this year, 6 months down south, 6 months up north. Sure would like to have full internet capabilities. I sent the company an email but never heard back from them. Do you like the set up? Would appreciate any comments. Thanks!
