[quote Those of you in particular who are under the impression that you don't have to pay anything, or you only have to pay $32 per year etc, can expect to be surprised when you find out just what coverage you actually have.

I agree with everything you have said except the price issue... I have Farmers Insurance and all my documentation in writing. I have also talked to a couple of State Farm agents in the area & they both told me the camper is covered on the truck at no charge but not off the truck.
I have a $60.00 comprehensive deductible and a $500.00 collision deductible. Comprehensive includes fire, theft, vandalism, hail, wind, (with a wind awning exclusion), flying objects, smoke & more)I also have a $35,000 medical & loss of income benefit and more. My policy is an ACV (Actual Cash Value) policy, which is the same as virtually every auto policy out there. ACV is going to pay the used market value for the camper just like it would the truck.
These policies DO NOT include any mechanical breakdown coverage. They work just like your auto policy. If my auto policy has it, my camper has it.
A agree totally -- have it writing and I do. I pay 16.00 every 6-months.

The cheapest option is to cover the TC by adding it to the truck policy. The best option is to purchase a separate "all risk" policy for the TC. Some companies only offer coverage based on the actual cash value (depreciated value) of the TC, but you can find "replacement cost" coverage for a late model TC if you are willing to pay a substantially higher premium. Replacement cost policies on RVs are typically offered through specialty RV insurance companies or by places like Camping World.
