You can get a Cummins, or a CAT, or a Powerstroke in a Ford, but only on the F650 and up trucks. You can get a few different models of Eaton, Allison, and Spicer transmissions in them too .
On F250 through F550 trucks, the only diesel choice is the 6.0L Powerstroke and the only 2 transmission choices are the ZF 6-speed manual and the TorqShift 5-speed auto.
As far as the Dodge MegaCab, I don't forsee them selling very many of them if they're not going to offer it with the Cummins diesel an 8 foot bed. Whoever decided not to offer the big cab with those 2 things should be fired from management.
A Mega Cab with a tiny bed and no Cummins is like eating a burger without the meat and only half the bun. What's the point in eating it??

If the bed s 6'3" then that is a short box, right? Many people on here want a short box. I think they will sell lots of them, wish I knew how much they were going to be!
seems the rumor mill is in full swing: this quote from 4wheeler.com:
"In response to customer criticism that the back seat of its Quad Cab Ram pickups was a little snug, Dodge stunned the full-size truck community by unveiling the limousine-like 2006 Ram Mega Cab at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show. The new cab is so spacious, it allows for reclining rear seats, 145.2 cubic feet of total interior space, and 7.6 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seat. With the rear seats folded down, the truck offers 71 cubic feet of interior cargo volume. The only downside to this size is a Titanic-like 52.5-foot turning circle, and a staggering 7,617 pound curb weight on the top 3500 Cummins 4x4 model.
The Mega Cab option will be with a short-bed only, riding on the same 160.5-inch wheelbase as the Quad Cab long-bed. However, it will be offered on 1500, 2500 and 3500 models in SLT and Laramie trim levels. Available engines will be the 5.7L Hemi V-8 on all models, and the 5.9L Cummins turbodiesel on 2500 and 3500 models. The Cummins will be available in the Mega Cab with the choice of a six-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. All Mega Cab models will be built at the Saltillo, Mexico assembly plant."
I guess Dodge doesn't want to build a longer frame... thus the short bed only version.

I think Dodge when it came out with its 4 door shortened the box up more than the conventional short beds. By about 4 inches? Hard to believe with 4 doors and a tiny box in some of the offerings you can call them a pick up truck any longer. They are getting in the group that the Ford Explorer, Avalanche and Escalade are.
Wonder if Chrysler has done anything to address the "Park to Reverse" slippage problem on their diesel/automatic transmission. The NHTSA and Transport Canada still have open investigations. Chrysler's stand is still "driver error". I guess it's buyer beware!

Well that's too bad.
There is a big market for short box 4 door trucks look at Nissan and the Titan and all the Ford SB Crew cabs. Seems a lot of people want that 4 to 6 person capacity and the towing or hauling capability of a full size truck. I think Dodge is missing a big market if it doesn't come out with the 8 foot bed. Dodge is know for lagging behind, Ford and GM come out with something new Dodge takes a wait and see approach.
It's not nearly as big as the rumors said it would be, that guy actually looks kind of cramped. Maybe he's 7 feet tall though. It's useless to me until they offer it with a long bed and DRW, a truck that big is going to be so heavy that capacities will be too low with the SRW.
