XM has 3 million subscribers and Sirius has 1 million. Neither has ever made a profit but may in the next few years. Apparently if they can ever get enough subscribers to cover their costs there is lots of profit from then on.
I got XM and liked it so much I got another unit for the house. IMHO they have a better music selection than Sirius. Not that it matters much but XM is a couple of bucks a month cheaper and if you have two units they charge like 16.99 a month instead of the usual 9.99 month each.
Because I think the selection is better and also I think the company is in a better finiancial situation, I like XM. Have had it for two years. Enjoy it immensely.

I have had both, but I have had Sirius for the past year. I suspect that most listeners have their favorite station or two, so the number of channels available really isn't important, as long as it has what YOU want. I can't imagine not having satellite radio for my RV. There are no negatives that I can think of (other than the obvious that it doesn't work when there is no LOS to the satellite).
It is easy. Just come to Europe. Here on the Free-to-Air ( FTA ) channels from a dozen satellites you can receive many hundreds on staitons including VOA and NPR or you old time American favorite : Al Jezeera.
I have had XM and it has worked great all over the country. XM has the major league baseball contract if you like baseball and Sirus has the NFL if you like football, myself I am a baseball fan and I like that I will be able to listen to my teams games no matter where I am. Good luck !
I have had XM for about a year now, and love it. I move it from the car, office and home.
When taking weekend trips I can always listen to the NASCAR race on the way home.

I have only experienced X-M and really like it, especially in the motorhome when traveling. I purchased a two year contract a few months back at a monthly cost of $7.44. They do offer longer contracts at progressively lower rates. It is also less expensive to sign up online. Since we are part-time users of our motorhome and our X-M radio is fixed in the dash, I am looking at my options to have it in our home. Discussions with X-M customer service over the limited use in the coach led them to suggest that I get another unit, have my service assigned to the new unit and, whenever I was taking the motorhome out, to simply call them and they would switch the service back and forth between the two radios at no charge. I believe that their willingness to work with me speaks volumes about their attitude regarding customer service.

XM for a year now. Won't leave home without it, esp on long trips. Ever drive thru WVA? Only two kinds of music, country or western and only then, 10 minutes at a time because of the hills. I went with XM as the have Philips Phile on talk radio. Sirius is having cash flow problems. They hired Stern, have NPR but I think XM has better music, more traffic channels, BBC news. I have it set up so I can move it between RV, house and daily driver. In the house, I will have it on and people will ask, "what station is that, its great". Also no commercials makes it worth every penny. My only regret is not getting it sooner.
XM in the last coach and it's being installed in the new coach as I post this message. I wouldn't be without it! When you're crossing that area from Dallas to El Paso XM sure fills the gap. When we're out during the day I leave it on low on a light classical station to entertain the feline member of our touring group.
