I found this recipe in a book, I'm going to make it tomorrow, I'll let you know how it turns out! The measurements are not all exact, because it was not a recipe book, it was in a murder mystery novel, the character was making this as she was speaking. Sounded interesting, so i thought I'd give it a try.

********************

Krispy Kreme Bread Pudding

1 doz glazed doughnuts-pinched into bite-size chunks
2 beaten eggs
1 can condensed milk
Pinch salt
Cinnamon- ~ 1 tbsp
More milk- ~ 3/4 cup
Vanilla- ~ 1 tbsp

Mix in pan-- I used a 8X12 pyrex

Bake 30 min at 350. Cool in refrig.

Butter Sauce
½ Stick of butter
½ box of confectioner’s sugar
Rum flavoring- ~ 2 tsp
Melt together, pour over bread pudding.

About two years ago, I was making this donut bread pudding, had just finished making the sauce and had poured it on the donut mixture, had not realized I had left my flame on under my PYREX casserole dish...do you realize how much glass is in a PYREX dish.
Thought I never find all the millions of pieces of glass. What I tasted before the explosion was great and it WAS going to be REALLY GOOD.
Heard that this recipe actually came from a donut bakery shop that the owner started making this with his left over pastries, got so that he was selling more (donut) bread pudding then his fresh donuts..
my recipe stated any pastry product, donuts, cinnamon rolls, coffee cake it did not matter...whats a few more calories, when you gone this far.

Leo,
I just read that same book last week! Did a search on the net and found several different versions of the Krispy Kreme Bread Budding. Yours looks the best though!

I had bronchitis last week and I read seven novels! It was my Spring Break and I spent it on the couch! Now, I can't remember which book it was. Blair the cheerleader...I just can't remember the name of the novel! I'm getting old!

Let us know how this turns out.

yup, that's the one, Gizmo. I can't remember the name, either-- the murder at the gym??.

I edited above, only needed one doz. to fill up the pan.

Yes, it's decadent, but sort of a novelty. We never eat desserts, but I'm cooking for Easter dinner and thought this would be different.

Smells good, I'll let you know how it TASTES.

It's done. Oh my gosh, this will never last til Easter. And I'm the one who does not like dessert, and doughnuts in particular. It's awesome.
