Being new, I thought I'd share pics of my newly completed "restoration".
After almost four months of constant work, she's all done and complete! Replaced the ceiling, repaired the roof trusses, sealed the top roof, repainted the whole thing, new tile floor, new propane lines, new tires, wheel bearings done, new clearance lights, propane tank holder, new water pump, restitched every single cushion cover, new table, plus a lot of miscellaneous wiring and vacuuming of mouse poop, this former derelict trailer is NY state inspected and had it's first new adventure at jellystone Park in Western New York on Memorial Day weekend
Here's a before shot:
1985 Chevy Conversion van
1969 Coachmen 24' (the new project dynamic)
1970? Cox Commander 515 Popup
I don't have any interior shots unfortunately.....yet. The optical block on my camera is shot (it was dropped onto a concrete basement floor), so now it will only focus on wide angles.......until I get it replaced.
I do have a couple of shots for the inside, just of the roof damage area. When I purchased it, the owner had said that it wasn't level and leaked around the skylight. The truth of the matter was that the roof seam at the side had split slightly and let everything drain in, and the skylight was just the lowest point. Once the ceiling was out and the trusses repaired, it was a matter of resealing that section inside and out, and then reinsulating and recovering.
This is the ceiling repaired. I used 1/4" laminate board. Looks pretty nice, the only irritating thing is that the roof is perfectly straight but the mouldings make it look just a bit wavy.
Now after our camping experience, I'll share with you two lessons I learned from a first timer:
Two lessons learned whilst camping:
1. Never assume that you'll have electricity all night long and depend on an electric heater.....hadn't had chance to run the propane one before our trip and the pilot light door was frozen shut! Now thankfully corrected
2. When flushing the toilet, don't just do it to make sure the materials exit.....let it run for a little bit, or you're going to end up with a nasty job when you disconnect your septic hose. This camper doesn't have any black or gray water tanks, just a pipe out the bottom.
