This is probably a forum-wide setting. I take part in a couple of other forums, and in both of those all linked sites always open in a new window. Perhaps the moderator could convey the wish to the person who is in charge of the forum software settings?

If I understand the question...
When I click on a link, I first press and hold "SHIFT" and then click on the link, the link will then open in a new window.
-or-
Press "CNTL" -and- "N" at the same time and a new window will open up.
