Have discovered a new dessert the kids love to make: Dessert Sushi
Take a rice krispie square (about 1 inch square-cut a store bought packaged one in half)and roll to round off the edges into a cylinder shape. Flatten the top and bottom so it will stand upright. Take Fruit-by-the-Foot (any flavor, we use sour green apple and it seems to cut the sweetness very well) and roll around the rice krispie, overlapping slightly. Cut and press to seal. Make a small indent in the centre and put in a colored candy (like a nib, cut up gummy or mini m & m).

Do a google search for scout recipies, you'll find lots of things you can cook easily over a fire or coals, and many with sticks
One of our scout favorites is "Silver turtles"
The boys each get a sheet of aluminum foil and they pile on ground beef, onions, carrots, potatoes, celery, brocolli, etc (all chopped to bite sized) then they drizzle with a sauce made from worstershire sauce (but I think any of the store bought grill-marinade sauces would work and be easier on the one doing the chopping) The foil is folded and sealed and marked with a name and then left on a bed of coals and flipped once, until cooked. To eat, lay the foil packet on a plate and cut a slit in the top. To clean up, toss the whole mess in the trash! There is some prep time for an adult with a knife, and an adult need to do the cooking, but otherwise it's a very kid friendly meal!
