Our family had the chance to meet Richard, Sue, Levi & Old Fella when they had their rally here in CO a year or so back. They were heartbroken when they heard the news this morning.

Richard & Sue, our prayers are with you during this difficult time, and thanks so much for sharing your family with mine.

Our deepest sympathy Richard and Sue, our hearts break for you, as others have said we know that you both have done everything you could for Old Fella. His legacy will live on. Take care of each other during this time of grieving. Prayers for you and your family.

Richard and Sue, my heart is broken to hear the news. Old Fella meant so much to you guys and to all of us who knew or read of him. His struggles with health, and life. But rest assured he knew from the moment you showed up at the campground and brought him home, that you cared and loved him, and even though the decision was a difficult one, that you ALWAYS had his best at heart. He knew you loved him and he trusted you with all of his heart. What Old Fella, along with you and Sue did for strays will live on in our hearts and history forever. May God wrap you in his arms so he can comfort you in your grieving, and fill you with the knowledge that Old Fella is free of pain, and is rejoicing at being with Levi again. Give Susie and Izzy a hug for us as they too will miss Old Fella. Love to you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Old Fella's passing. My heart breaks for you.
You gave him a wonderful, loving home during the last years of his life, and he in turn has touched the hearts of countless people. He won't be forgotten!

Our condolences to you at this sad time.
During this sad time of Old Fella passing, try and keep all the good thoughts in mind of all the lives that you and Old Fella have touched and most likely changed for the better. Just on this forum only nearly a half a million people have been a part of Old Fella's life with you. Quite an accomplishment for what once was a lonely abandoned dog before you came into his life.
We will keep you in our prayers tonight and always.

Richard and Sue,
So sorry to read of Old Fella's passing. Prayers sent for you.

To all of the other posters: Thanks for sharing your poems, prose and stories yesterday and today. Most of us have known and feel the loss of a pet and we have tears for Old Fella and all of our furry friends who are waiting over the bridge. Your words today have given me added comfort as I know they will also give comfort to Richard and Sue.

I, too, have never loved a pet that I have never met such as Fella. His story will last forever.

Richard and Sue... I'm sorry he's gone, and that it sounds like the way it happened was hard to see. It must have been a very, very hard day. Take care of yourselves while you recover.

Looking back over the way and time that this was discovered, and how everything fell out, I'm struck by the timing. By the not knowing when you went to the rally. And it seems a blessing at least from here, that you could all enjoy him that last time, and not have the trip clouded by anxiety over his impending passing.

The poetry that keeps running through my head is from a Garth Brooks song...

And now, I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end, the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Richard and Sue,

We are so sorry to hear of Old Fella's death. He was such a special dog and you are such special people for rescuing him in his time of need. Mine are both rescues and they will be hard to lose when the time comes, but I am not sorry I gave them a good and wonderful life. . . no matter how much it hurts when they are gone.

Love and prayers your way. . .

Some times it feels as though the losses out weigh the blessings, but we know that is not true. The blessings come first and are many. Fortunately the loss is a one time thing. We will all miss Old Fella. My thoughts and prayers are with the Daniel's Family and the FOOF's around the world.
