If someone is going to dump a dog or a puppy I rather it be at the shelter than on the side of the road.

Richard, Sounds lik you have your plate full again. Am looking forward to seeing Suzie and Charlie playing together. Maybe Charlie is just gathering things and bringing them to you so you can have your own "Charlie Daniels Band"
Sounds like the doogie will be making you younger as he ages a bit. Toss another Toy Dad!!!!

I was so sorry to read of the loss of Fella, it just broke my heart. There is nothing I can say that hasn't already been said
Charlie sounds like a handful As far as the incontinence goes, I have first hand experience with that. When we got Riley from a rescue group at 11 months old, we were already her fourth home, we found out why soon enough, she would pee in her sleep. She would let us know she had to go out if she was awake; but just went if she was sleeping; naturally it was on our bed most of the time. Vet wasn't sure if it was spay incontinence or just poor bladder control. After ruling out any infections or kidney problems he prescribed Proin50. The directions called for twice a day; but the vet said to try just once a day and that did the trick. After she was on it for about a year or so, we took her off to see if she would be ok, and she was for about two years and then started having the problem again, so she's back on it and no more problems. Best of luck with him!!! Nancy
Another Proin user here. Mackenzie, the Siberian Husky that was fortunate enough to meet Levi and Fella at Four Paws, had similar problems - she would piddle in her sleep. Our vet called it spay incontinence, even though she wasn't spayed too early. The vet just thinks she has a low estrogen level, which causes weakness in the muscles that hold in the pee. She gets a pill twice a day. We tried cutting back to once a day, but after she piddled a couple of times we went back to twice a day and no more piddling.

I just started Charlie on Proin today. We will hope for good results. Today Charlie has found another ball from somewhere {I think Sue is slipping him the balls or he is hidding them somewhere like a drunk would hide a bottle} and he has been very, very, very, very, oh well you get the picture. He won't give up hope that someone is going to play ball with him. I will be sure to take a couple of balls with us on the camping trip, that will keep someone busy. Maybe I could give a neighbor's kid the ball and let them go play, hee, hee, hee!

Dr. Ford told me to watch the stool to see if it clear up with a good diet and it has. I don't know what he had eaten but big clobs of fur were coming out with the stool. Today it looks a lot better.

Is Charlie still limping? If he checks out healthy at the vet and seems to be in good physical condition, you might consider flyball. It's good exercise, keeps him active and happy, and satisfies the ball fetish. There are flyball clubs all over the country. Check out the website at www.flyball.com. Of course, he might just bring you the other dogs' balls as well as his own

This morning I carried Charlie with me when I went to City shelter and the inmates couldn't believe the change in just two days. I had Charlie sitting while I threw a stick and made him hold until I gave the command to fetch. He would then run get it and bring it back. I didn't tell them he already knew how to do that.
