Richard, are you the next "Dog Whisper"?

I think you mean "Whisperer" although, if Richard were the subject of dog "whispers", they could only be saying good things about him!

Richard, might you scatter some of Old Fella's ashes at Modoc as a memorial to him and his time there?

I have been thinking about that. He spent five years there, but I don't know if you could call those happy years? He did call that home however and it was a struggle to get him to leave it no matter how he felt about his life there. I have also thought that maybe the Corps of Engineers should put up some kind of recognition of his life there such as a plaque mounted on a post in the area of the playground where he stayed most of the time.

I have even thought of asking people who pass by Modoc Campground in their travels to stop at the entrance and leave some kind of memorial such as a stuffed dog, flowers, something like that just to remember him in that way. When I go to Modoc next weekend I will ask about something being done in the park just so he won’t be forgotten.

Today we kept Charlie quiet and inside most of the day. This improved his leg a great deal. I think maybe we have let him be a little too active and that perhaps caused his leg to be sore. Anyway he seems to be doing much better tonight.

It got very hot here today as the temperature reach 100* for a brief period. The camper is clean and ready for next weekend so now that leaves the truck to clean up. After Fella left us I put away the steps we used to make it easier for him to come in and go out of the camper. Today I put them back in the camper for Charlie to use. It will make it a lot better for Charlie and Sue and I are use to taking them up and down anyway when we go camping so it’s not a big deal.

I hope everyone has a blessed day tomorrow. I am going to call it a day.

Just as my beloved Dot left me so that Lily might grace me with her lovely and loving presence, so Fella has left so that you might have room in your heart, your home and your camper for Charlie.

When you think about the timing it makes you wonder, Charlie being at the animal shelter just as Old Fella left us and his gentleness and all of his manners are very much like Fella and Levi all rolled up into one body. He loves to lean against you, {Levi}. He wants your hands on him all the time, {Levi}. He throws his paw out at you for attention, {Fella}. He comes into the bedroom with me in the mornings after my shower {Fella}. He lies by my feet when I am at my desk, {Fella}. When I go somewhere he waits for me by the front door, {Fella & Levi}. He loves the water {Fella & Levi} and the list goes on.

But the big question I have in my mind is why did he end up at the animal shelter? How could anyone allow a dog like this to end up there?

It is possible that the dog left at the shelter was Charlie in body but not in temperment. Fella and Levi got together and talked about Dad needing someone to fill the hole that they had left in his heart. It was when Richard went to the shelter for the first time and saw Charlie that the spirit of Fella and Levi was transfered to Charlie's body. Just like Old Fella, Charlie was just a dog until he was fortunate enough to contact the Daniels Family. Through the spirit of Levi and Fella being transfered to Charlie, the legacy of Fella and the rescue effort that he caused around these United States will continue.

It was said that Fella was one special "DOG" "D"emonstrator "O"f "G"ods will

People give up dogs all the time for so many reasons. Us being lovers of animals just don't understand this. On another forum I read where their human had passed on and her beloved Bichon (10 years old) was put in a shelter, because none of her 5 children would take her. She was trained and very well behaved. Didn't understand that one either. Buttttttt it made me think and talk to our children about if anything happens to us who was willing to take Missy. Our daughter said she would. So it helps to talk about these things so dogs don't end up in a shelter.
