NATCOA and NATCC links/logos/references of ANY type are to be removed from all signatures.
They will be allowed in your profile area ONLY and enforcement will begin in 5 days.
Violation of this notification will result in loss of signature privileges.
Along with this action, repeated references in posts to NATCOA AND NATCC will result in the posts being deleted - continued violation will result in the removal of the member from RV.net.
The reason for the ruling is a follows:
We received a series of emails and pms from members which made us aware of the fact that when NATCOA was started that they were using RV.net as a source to recruit new members. It then progressed to larger and larger signatures which began to show up in all the forums.
According to some of the emails I received, one of the threads posted by Paul Beddows on 12/6/04 was “Get those NATCC Logos into your signature, or else” referring to signatures on RV.net and complete with detailed instructions on how to add the logo to the signatures.
On 2/10/05 I posted a warning
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseac........d/15023717/gotomsg/15025088.cfm#15025088
This was apparently not taken seriously.
When the new RV.net forum software was started, the sizes of signatures were of course reduced. Now before someone starts complaining that NATCOA was the cause for the size reduction let me assure you that was NOT the case. The problem appeared to slow down for a while until just recently we received a new series of pms and emails from members regarding the fact that NATCOA was making another run at RV.net for members. I again began receiving complaints from RV.net members that they were receiving pms urging them to go to their site and join. I received a pm tonight that the latest thread(s?) regarding putting logos in their RV.net signatures has been removed from their forum.
NATCOA Administrators from their site were asked dozens of time to please show some reasonable common sense and self restraint on using RV.net to advertise/promote their site(s). They were sent this message on numerous occasions: “Repeatedly promoting another RV forum and directing RV.NET members to that forum in posts on RV.NET forums is not allowed.” They did not listen or comply. Posts by a few certain individuals were constantly referring to that site which was an obvious attempt to have members go there to discuss an issue rather than on RV.net.
Posts were similar to “well we discussed that on XXXXXXXXX and here is the link” etc. It was common practice for them to mention NATCOA in bold letters several times in one single post, when there was no legitimate reason to mention it at all.
Those posts will now be deleted with no comment – don’t even bother asking.
Links/logos/references of ANY kind to NATCOA in signatures as I stated in the sticky will not be allowed since this is obviously being used as a method of spamming RV.net.
