Water softener is indeed difficult to find, even in chains, in regions with soft water, since there's no demand for it.

The key relevant ingredient in Calgon Water Softener is sodium carbonate, so any other product containing significant amounts of it will also work: Arm and Hammer Fabricare Advanced Detergent Action (any scent, or unscented) or washing soda (Arm & Hammer or any other brand) will do just as well.

Yup...me too. I couldn't find it anywhere in the Fresno area so I ordered a full case from drugstore.com and got free shipping. Figured it will last me years.

Calgon added to your car wash gets off bug juice and other debri really well. Otherwise you can use it as intended for washing delicate clothes to restore them to their full and rich color or whiteness.

Been camping for years and I have read about the Geo method and I decided to try it on my 05 trailer. Normally using the flush king device it would take 4-5 dumps before the water would come out clear. I used 2 cups of water softner and disolved it in 2 gal of warm water. All 4 of us went on our 5 day trip to the Smokey Mountains, yesterday when I went to dump I could not believe my eyes when the second dump was clear!!!!! This has cut my dumping time in less than 1/4th the time it took before. I suggest all of you use this method it really works!!!

If you are having that much trouble dumping with a 2005 trailer, you should take it back to the dealer and have them fix it.
