It has been good to me over the years. However, it does complicate things based on my plans. First, I would like to spend some time down in the Hurricane impacted areas so I need to think about safety. I also plan on evaluating what part of the country I would like to call home next so it needs to be comfortable and easy to use. I currently evaluating used RV's versus trailers. Don't want to spend over 20K.
Generally speaking, everybody was pretty reasonable in this Walmart thread. IMNSHO
Just a few points for you.
First, RV stands for Recreational Vehicle, which includes your pop up, travel trailers, fifth wheels, class A's, B's and C's. A motorized rig would be considered a Motorhome, then broken down to the appropriate "class" is needed. So basically, "RV" is a generac term.
You may want to also include a used truck with truck camper set up. Very easy to get around and you can take the camper off and leave it at the campsite. Choices........
And finally:
For goodness sakes folks, there is no reason not to put out your slides. Saying it shouldn't be done, is well, in my opinion, silly and has nothing to do with the "official" Walmart position.

I agree. It is lawn chairs, awnings, BBQ's etc which should be avoided as they give an impression well beyond simply parking.
A number of people have said something like "do whatever you wish". I disagree; if you want to do more than park for a while, get explicit permission for whatever's out of the norm.
"May I park overnight?" is NOT the same question as "May I establish a campsite?"
Totally disregarding the ettiquete side of it i personally wouldnt want to go through the hassle of setting up a pop up for a few hours sleep. It seems like a lot of effort for a small return.

I have to disagree with this too. In this day and age with our conveniences it takes only a couple seconds to pull out a folding chair, roll out the awning and fire up a protable gas grill to cook a burger. What is wrong with having a little protection from the elements and a place to sit while having a meal? It isnt like you are diving tent stakes and building a fire.
