I am sure this has been discussed before but was wondering if any one has ordered an air-bed over the internet and if they are satisfied. Would appreciate any input. The sleep number beds seem to be really expensive. I hate to spend that much!

This may be a less expensive alternative to the select comfort. I don't have one, preferring the memory foam. But, I've known some who do. They've spoken favorably.

We have one of the off brand air beds, not number bed in the motor home, it worked better after we got a piece of pretty stiff foam and put down the middle of the two bladders, but we like it very much. It is going into the third rig now since we got it. Have a number bed at home and when we go full time if it will fit we will move it to the MH.

I purchased an Instaflex airbed for my wife to use in our TT. She is bedridden with MS and unable to sit up on her own. It has two air chambers (one for the bed and another chamber under the head end of the bed for raising the head end for sitting upright. Each chamber has its own air pump filler control knob. My wife loves it and indiacted that it was more comfortable than her bed at home. I tried it one night and I was sold. It was one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept on. The pump is built into the side of the mattress and the pump controls for each chamber can be easily reached while laying down on the mattress. The best part about this bed is that it costs around $75.00! I plan to purchase another one for my use. It also makes it convenient to sit up in bed to read. If interested, you might want to check this product out at the following website address: http://www.wenzelstore.com/acatalog/insta_flex__Airbed_with_built_in_pump_.html

We were going to try the Select Comfort until we found out about their "warranty". The DW's sister paid about $1700 for one and it was defective when she got it. Wouldn't hold air overnight. The company gave her the purchase price back but wanted to charge her $300 shipping to return it. She fought them but it still cost her $75 to ship it back.

We have a Coleman air mattress that cost us about $45. We have a thin foam eggcrate pad over it and then a feathertop mattress pad over that. Total investment less than $100. It is a great bed! I still have our original mattress in storage that came with the DP, but plan to get rid of it. Air is the way to go for us!

Couldn't find the link to the article you referenced but we ordered the combo inner-spring and internal air chamber mattress online for our flexsteel hide-a-bed sofa and it's all we sleep on now. It inflates in about 30 seconds and when inflated is about 10 inches thick and a very comfy sleep platform.

It deflates in seconds and it folds quickly back into sofa.

We liked it so much better than rear bedroom mattress we removed bed and turned rear room into a nice multi-purpose sitting room with an easybed loveseat.

We've used this mattress for almost a year and it has been very reliable.

I had a 'Bear Bed' matsress and really liked it. Unfortunately, after 2 years, it sprung a leak around the pump. I repaired it but could not get it fully inflated again. Tossed it and got a sleep number mattress. I did not like it as much as the bear mattress. It was a dual control (I'm single). I called the company when it was 7 months old and asked if I could exchange it for a single control (one bladder). They said 'no problem'. They sent me the new one, I put the old one in the same box and returned it at their expense. Excellent customer service. I since got rid of that mattress and now have the mattress that came with my new Brave. I put a 'memory foam' topper on it and it's great. Don't have to worry about the air pressure going up or down with altitude changes.

We ordered two single aero beds from the internet that are not made of plastic. They have a canvas like covering. We have been using them for three years. Wonderful nights sleep until they developed a lump in the middle. Both beds seemed to give way on the quilting like top and made a hump. We are still using them but have to put less air in them to accomodate for the hump. When we lay on them the hump dispurses and they are still comfortable. Aero Bed representative told me they would have been replaced if they were only one year old. We paid 150 each for them are still glad we bought them because we could fold them away into the storage bag when not in use.

We have been using the Colman air mattresses for the last several years at home. At $20 at Walmart I can replace it whenever and it is still cheaper than a select number. They usually last 9 to 12 months and could be patched but why bother at this price.
