For sure on that freeze warning. we have that possibility here too. That means bringing in my tomato plants I have been leaving them out since the weekend. and they were doing well. Oh well, will only bee for a couple of nights. except I have to guard them from Kahlan. She likes to pull leaves off of them. I am hoping this summer she will see the delight of growing tomatoes and leave them alone next year. I only grow tomatoes and flowers. speaking of flowers, I have irises all over the place and my crepe myrtles have so many buds on them it isnt funny. I still have some flowers on my camillia. My star magnolias were loaded with flowers ths year. All the rain we had sure was a good thing. Altho the weatherman still says we are in a drought. Mower, STOP playing with that darn radio and come chat with yoour friends.
We put the hitch in the truck, and brought the fifth wheel around to start the cleaning and testing (my son reads my posts, so this is how I can let him know what is going on without making a phone call...). Moved the furniture and vacuumed the carpets, replaced the battery in the indoor/outdoor thermometer (and the clock), now going to take the shop vac out and get rid of the dead bugs on the counters and some of the dust. Then I can test the water system and really get with the cleaning program. so far, everything works.
How long has it been sitting? Well, I found a Great Falls Tribune under one of the recliners that was dated 2006!
I guess, best quit goofing off and take the shop vac out, then hook up a water hose and see what happens!
OK, got water in it, the pump works, the only hang up so far is the kitchen drain hose. It is flexible so it can move with the slide-out, and it is kinked in two places, and it leaks. It will be great fun to replace, it is NOT in a very good place for access! I wonder if I make it longer, if it will help prevent kinking??
Definitely something to look at.
The kitchen stove and the water heater won't light. Propane tanks empty? HMMM... Maybe that's why the generator won't start??
I hate it when things like that make me feel like a dummy!
I'll go get propane tomorrow, and we'll see...
You better stop fooling around with that old newspaper and get the 5'er cleaned up...warm weather will be here soon and someboy else might catch all the fish ! I took the TT to CW today so they can get started on checking the brakes and bearings in advance of the (hopefully) big trip to Arizona to see the Grand Canyon and other stuff. Next the TV goes in for a good check up,belts, hoses, fluids, tranny and cooling system checks etc.
UMMMM... Larry, that's JON, not JOHN.
After all these years of having it spelled wrong, I'm still not really used to it!
The fiver will be up for sale when it is all cleaned up and checked out.
The Tioga is ready to go, as soon as it isn't freezing overnight. Yeah, I'm an old wimp, just don't LIKE camping in the snow anymore, or waking up to frost on the punkin!
Mea Culpa...Mea Culpa....Jon, I do apologize. Like you I am over roughing it. I tell folks that I spent so much time sleeping in the woods in cold and wet conditions while in the service that I don't need to anymore. Heck, I don't even stand in line unless absolutely necessary.
Mower, all my life I have had people add an "e" to the end of my real name. I usually just let it go. But, a few years ago I bought a sewing machine that was a computer, got all kinds of software with it and many many goodies to use with that machine. I spent like $10,000. that place where I got it still sends me mail with that doggone E on my name. You would think after i spent all that money with them they would know how to spell my name. Soooo, after a couple of years of that, and them cashing my checks, I stopped doing business with them. I actually told one of their sales people that was why I had discontinued purchasing from them. Didnt change a thing. they still send me advertising (with the E) and I still toss it in the trash. And larry, I agree with you on the sleeping in the rough and standing in lines. When I camp, I NEED that hair dryer and flush toilet. I did all the line standing I need when I stood in line to get in the commisary. you gotta have some perks when you get older.
Oh, I do hate it when I find a simple solution to problems!
Especially when I never thought of it when the problem cropped up!
OF COURSE the water heater wouldn't work, and the kitchen stove wouldn't light, and the generator wouldn't run...
BOTH 30 LB. PROPANE CYLINDERS WERE EMPTY, ya big dummy!
Got them filled, and GLORY BE, everything works!
OK Mower (Jon, see I remember) plug your ears or ...perhaps your eyes...because I am freezing my tushy off....29 degrees this morning in Maggie Valley at 3600 ft. And the guy shows up to put a new pump in my KOI pond waterfall....mind I don't really need a new pump as the current one is working fine....I just think it isn't pumping enough water so I am standing outside for an hour with a coat and gloves while he is pulling out the pump....anyway it is now up to a stifling 52 dgrees an I might have to put on shorts ! Unless of course the wife is successful in getting me to attack the HD (honey do) list !!!! I hope all is well with everyone.....Mower did you get the new radio working yet?
Yessir, Larry, got the 2 meter and 70cm local channels programmed in, with only minimal problems. I discovered that my "birthday present" computer program works just fine for programming the 897D. MUCH simpler than going through all the button pushing that the radio requires! Just set the frequency, point and click for the offset and sub-audible tone, set the channel number, and done!
Now to get the 857D mounted in the Jeep. I haven't decided where the 2900R is going, yet.
Though it got cold and even frosted in and around this area and several others, we never did frost here at my place....It was 34 degrees this morning, got all the way up to 70 and is sunny and warm right now. I'll take it..
Got to work tomorrow and have an eye appoint at 4PM...then have to go in Sunday morning around 4:45 or so for a few hours....yeah, I'm loving it...
need to mow and weed eat, I'm tired already, guess I'm not as tough as I use to be.
Hope all of you are well and having a great weekend....got the daughter and two granddaughters here right now...catch y'all later.
