Hey Larry, Kathy's still a little sore, but she went back to work Monday, came home an hour or so early and trying to move around enough to get over the soreness, but overall, believe shes doing much better now.

I'll give you a shout when we settle back in here... take care, talk to you later.

Well, it looks like I either have antenna problems or coax problems, or both.
I got the antenna tuner installed on the radio, and it won't tune anywhere except 10 meters! I removed the lightning arrester from the line, no difference (I had trouble with one of those things years ago, on CB).
So, I'll have to get my friend out here with his test box, and take the dummy load up on the roof to check the coax cable, then re-tune the antenna.
It might be easier to build an inverted-V fan dipole!
I gotta get me one of those MFJ 259B testers!
Oh, well, at least I can run 10 meters now, IF the band opens up.

Larry, I hope you got magnolia over to get her surgery taken care of. That doggone garage door acting up like that. Darn thing needs to be KICKED.

NC, nice that you found and economical day driver. Lucky you. Hope Kathy is getting back to herself.

Mower, I have NO idea what the heck you are talking about...that stuff is beyond me. I know what a diapole is, but never heard of a reverse one. Ask me about aircards tho. I KNOW what they are.

We are sitting here watching the sun get a little lower on the lake. Very nice out tonight. So far there are about 14 rvs in our group. We have one lady here with a Scottie. I am not sure of the length, but it looks to be about 15 feet long. Looks really good for its age. She is so proud of that thing and I can see why. It is as clean as a whistle and in really great shape.

I have Kahlan convinced there are alligators in the lake. She was getting too familiar with the edge of the water. So I told her there were alliagators in there and to be careful. ( I also tossed in some rocks when she wasnt looking to make splashes) She is giving the waters edge a wide berth now. Boy, I am getting pretty sharp in my old age

Totally awesome day today, cept for the fact I had to work...Got up to about 80 and never saw a drop of rain where I was....Tonight is supposed to be where the moon is closest to the earth, will look 14% larger than normal, around 11:30ish or so....and it's supposed to be clear enough to observe this larger full moon...I know this morning, it was lit up at 05:00 like street lights were on...it was nice....

Got the yard mowed, got everything weed-wacked and trimmed, also have the two granddaughters with us tonight....the daughter and her husband are enjoying whats left of the weekend while Kathy and I take care of the girls....aren't we grand.....parents that is

Hope all of you are feeling well and having a great weekend....I'm being summons to help put a puzzle together, catch y'all later.

Jon, did you figure out if its the antenna or the coax yet? Do you still have to check SWR, believe that's what we use to call it...the lower the better... 1 to 1.5 used to be pretty good, If we're talking same type antenna....Mine was a PDLII, hey, did a lot of talking on 10 meters, where I spent most of my time on the Siltronix... anyway, Hope you got it figured out to where you can get back on the air....

We made it home a bit ago and the trip went very well. This is the longest trip we have ever made to cheraw. Usually we go on a friday and come home on sunday, but this trip we left early thursday morning, getting there around noon and left there this this morning about noon. It was great catching up with our friends and the children. Kahlan had a blast. All the kids loved the alligator story. The older folks got quite a charge out of it too. Can wait to see Abi this week. I really missed her. We are leaving again a week from monday. Heading out to Tenn. and then into Missouri. We came home to a freshly mowed yard and the house was relatively clean. Sometimes it pays to talk harshly to the kids before you leave

Hey Larry, Kathy is feeling much better now. We loaded up the 5er today for next Saturday's trek into WVa. Filled up the "new" old car today and am getting 27 mpg at this time...over half driving to and from work and the other driving around Asheville...not bad I don't think. Going to check out the spark plugs and wiring...it's just a 4-banger so not going to be much to up date if needed.....

Beautiful warm sunny day here...had the granddaughters until around 1pm. Won't see them for a couple of weekends, so wanted to spend a little time with them yesterday and today.

Larry, hope you get to feeling better sooner than later, take care of yourself....

catch y'all later....

Larry, we just had a long weekend, but we are going to go big time next week. Time for that yearly visit to my family in Missouri.

NC, with the price for a gallon of gas lately, 27 mpg is pretty good. It is raining here today, but thats ok. We had a fantastic weekend over in cheraw.

Hey! I have tomatoes on my plants. Even my little grape tomatoes that were volunteers are looking healthy. Last year I had a few of the grapes that went bad before we could eat them and I tossed them in a nice fertile spot and this spring I had volunteers to appear. I scooped them up and put them in makeshift pots and then into the ground. every time I replanted them I buried half of them. Looks like the way to go. when I eat fresh maters, I will think of you all.

HOO, BOY!
My welding skills (what little I had) have atrophied severely! I have an idea for an antenna mount to go in the receiver of the motorhome, and it requires some welding. So, the other day I clamped the parts together, and figured I would weld the ends with the torch. THAT fiasco should have given me a clue!
But, I got it done.
Then tonight, I got the little wire-feed set up and tried welding the side seams. My first thought was that I should have bought a stick welder and some 1/8 or 3/16 6013 rod. I used to be pretty fair with that!
Not so the wire feed.
Let's just say I will have to grind the mess down and try to clean it up.
With practice, perhaps I can make a decent weld again!
How embarrassing!
I have an excuse; it has been over 20 years since I last struck an arc, more than 10 since the last gas welding!
