Just wondering if anyone on here takes an RV or camping trailer to any Nascar races.

I'm planning to retire in the near future and I am considering buying a 5th wheel trailer to spend some time with the Mrs down in warmer climates for part of the winter. Since it will be sitting in my driveway why not haul it to a few races over the summer?

Does anyone have information on how you go about getting a campsite in the infield? Any info about Nascar camping would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Most NASCAR race tracks have no hook ups. If you have a generator, they can only run till 11pm. I have dry camped at Pocono several times with a bunch of friends (some of these weekends can never be talked about!!) We camp now as a family at nearby camp grounds that have full hook ups. Most tracks have websites with info for the areas at hand. Have fun and enjoy your retirement

Have friends that have camped at Atlanta AMS (about 30 miles from me). Seemed to be very expensive and sites in best areas hard to get, especially infield. I think they said they reserved > 1 yr ahead.

I've done Richmond, Dover and Bristol and each one has something special to remember and going to do them again this year. Not possible in the infeild but I've been as close as back side of turn two. Nothing like the smell of Eggs bacon and tire burning.

We have a Trackside site at POCONO for both races. There are no hook ups but we can use the generator and there are trucks that will empty you holding tanks or refill your fresh water for a fee. They also have somewhat changed the infield dry camping to make it more family friendly. Check the web site from the different tracks for info. Right now we are on our way to Daytona with a group from Good Sam. We were there last year. We camp on track property right outside turn one. We get great seats and lots of extras.

Hi Canadian GP and welcome to the forum. Go to rvtravel.com here and click on their bookstore link. They have a NASCAR book on sale that covers all the tracks and information on the area around the tracks. Also how to contact them to make reservations for camping at any of the tracks. I gave the book to a friend who goes to as many races as he can, and he loved the book. Happy camping. John

It is very expensive, loud, and you have to put up with a lot of drunk and rowdy good ol’ boys. But it is fun as hell! Start by contacting the track you wish to visit. They can help you out with tickets.

We have permanent spots at both Dover races but we started out with the first come first served lots there. The truth of the matter is that those lots were more fun than the permanent spot lots because we met different people at every race and they were all big race fans.
It seems that most tracks have some camping and that most of the camping is "no hookups" but accomodations are made to handle fresh water needs and dumping of your tanks. You will need a good generator and remember that most places will require the generator to be shutdown overnight which can make for hot sleeping at some of the summer races.
You can google your way to the main page for each of the tracks and then find the link to the camping info for that track.
Good luck and have fun.

Rented a Class C and stayed at Martensville for the spring race. no infild camping but room for 100 or so in outfield. $25 lets you stay a week. no hookups but a truck comes around with fresh water and another for dumping. Will do it again.
