The short answer is no, you don't have to have a CDL for the semi if it's titled at a motorhome. Some states do not allow that as an option, therefore a person could get dinged on it. I have a CDL from earlier driving. An older unit like mine is a lot cheaper than most tow vehicles capable of pulling a heavy trailer. Besides, they can pack a lot of weight directly.

I was just looking at tow vehicles and I saw the axle ratios. What is the difference? 2.44 and 4.10 etc. Limited slip or not? And what does that do?
