I debated the Big Horn II and the Alaknak II for a long time. I ended up with the Alaknak II because I prefered the square design. The Big Horn II is a great tent though, actually all the Cabellas tents are top notch. I based my decision on the square shape of the Alaknak II, I went to a Cabelas and physically measured a Big Horn and with the stove and cots it wouldnt hold as many people. That being said the windows on the Big Horn are much, much better and I think the setup will be a little faster. Whatever you choose get it all, the floor liner, vestibule, and stove. Kiler tent you will enjoy it.

I considered both tents and also the Springbar tent that is made in SLC. Kirkhams (Springbar tents) Although not cheap, I decided on the Springbar. The Springbar seems much easier to put up than either of the Cabela's tents. The downside to the Springbar is you can't put a stove in it. I asked the folks at Kirkhams if that would be possible but they told me the design which makes it so stable in adverse conditions, is based on flexibility and putting a stove in would eliminate that.
Choosing between the two Cabela's tents would come down to a coin toss for me.

I'm not fond of poly tents. They make a lot of noise in the wind, but I've used both models. I prefer the heavier Alakak. I did use one for a fall hunt camp when I misplaced a 12x14 canvas wall tent. Unfortunately, it only lasted for one season, between the high wind and ash from the cook stove.
I prefer 18oz canvas wall tents of which I have three (12x12 & 12x14 cook tents and 12x16). Cabelas has some pretty good commercial tents using 10.9 and 12oz. cotton duck, that I'd consider buying as replacements.

I've had the Bighorn for 3 seasons and love it. It takes about 45 mins. to set it up with one person. Much faster if you have 2 people. It's very cool to have a stove in the tent . Buy a stove that can hold heat all night if you're in cold country. I got a great deal on an army surplus stove but it only burns for a few hours. I think the larger Cabelas stoves will burn all night.

Im curious about this too. I have had mine in snow and a blizard but no rain yet. The material is really an extreme material, not a thin nylon tent at all. I am positive they will both shed the rain for years to come.
