Dish Network has developed a written policy on use of receivers in an RV and as soon as I get my hands on it, I will post it on the forum.

Dan, that should be an interesting document as many of us have experienced problems with using Dish Network in our RV's this past year. I believe I was the first to post about the problem last fall after experiencing an "audit" by Dish.

Dick,

I saw the presentation on a chat (TV) but want to get my hands on a written copy before I lay out the process. I believe it will relieve a lot of anxiety and I believe it is a very reasonable policy that everyone can live with. It involves corresponding with the audit team and once done, you shouldn't have future problem if subjected to an audit. There is some paperwork involved that some people may object to, but it is very minimal and has to be accomplished if you want to relax about using a Dish Network receiver in your RV.

Be interesting to see how the new policy will apply. Direct has changed their position so many times and has "grandfathered" so many that it is really hard to understand their true position. I have had Direct back when it first made the scene. I have the RV endorsement with East and West coast feeds, along with my locals which of course I lose when I leave out of the area any distance at all. I have "mirrored" receivers and have never had either one connected to a phone line. I would hate to have to contact "customer service" at Direct because I think that they would "un-grandfather" me.

I too will be interested as for several years I have followed the "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy with Dish.

I've been considering running a phone line out to my TT so I can plug it in while I'm home. I already have a cable running from my home dish to the TT, because I usually leave one of my receivers in the TT during camping season. That way I can hang out in the TT and watch TV sometimes.

Hopefully with this new policy I won't have to worry about the phone line.

UPDATE: Contacted Dishnetwork Audit's team regarding the new policy. You are no longer required to set up a seperate RV account if you complete the "Proof of Ownership Form". The receiver(s) in your rv will have a $5.00 per month charge (the same as additional receivers at home). You must provide owner's documentation.

If you would like to have the form mailed to you, please PM and I will forward the email from Dishnetwork.

Below is the contents of the form.

Dear Customer,

Please complete & sign form, enclose supporting Proof of Ownership documentation, and return via:
Fax to: 720-514-6926
OR
Mail to: DISH Network,
ATTN: Proof of Ownership Processing
P.O. Box 6632,

The completed form must be returned within 7 days to ensure continued service.

Dear DISH Network,

I understand that DISH Network’s business rules allow the use of tuners in an RV (Class A 3 Tuners, Class C 2 Tuners & Class B 1 Tuner), Commercial Truck (only 1 regardless of size) and/or Boat (26ft-40ft 2 Tuners, 40ft or longer-3 Tuners) on a single account with Proof of Ownership. I hereby represent that my use of tuners(s) outside of my primary residence is compliant with these rules.

I have _____ tuners at my primary residence and ____ in my Recreational Vehicle, _____Commercial Truck and/or _______Boat.

I have attached proof of ownership (vehicle title or registration,) of my Recreational Vehicle, Commercial Truck and/or Boat.

** Please list the Tuner(s) located in the RV, Boat and/or Commercial Truck. You can obtain the Receiver and Smartcard numbers from your Receiver by pressing the menu button on your remote, select System Set up, next select Installation and then select System Information.

I see Class A, Class C, Class B and no fifth wheel or travel trailer. Does that mean we aren't good enough

I wonder if the new policy will affect the automatic cut off that you get if you don't keep the receiver connected to the satellite.
