If you had the choice between a brand-new ford F350 crew cab shortbed/longbed. Or a Brand-new Chevy/GMC 3500 Crew Cab SRW with the Duramax/Allison combo, which would you choose and why? I am constantly buying and selling trucks because I love trucks. I simply buy them, use them, then a friend really wants it then I sell it to them.
I'm towing a Weekend Warrior LE with a sandrail and a few KTMs. I don't really care what I get. I just don't like Dodges.
Actually, I would chose the GM because of the LBZ motor and Allison combo and I agree, Dodge would be my last choice, not that there is anything wrong with them, just not MY choice.

I'll bring the butter for the popcorn...Let's see, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that anyone that post to this thread that owns a GMC/Chevy will say, "Get the D/A", Ford owners will say, "Duh,
get the Ford" and seeing as how original poster said he didn't like the Dodge, Dodge owners, will of course, recommend the Dodge CTD and also be upset because he said he didn't like the Dodge. Now, I could be wrong, but I kind of doubt it.
If you have the money to buy "any ole truck" that you want, at any particular time, then sell it later to a "buddy", hey, don't ask us, buy all three of them, and sell them as you get "bored" with them. Both Chevy/GMC and Ford are great, as well as the Dodge for "whatever"
it is that you need them for....Now, "flame-off".

1) Most power and torque
2) No recalls or TSB on GM - Ford has 60 or 70 on P-S
3) Transmssion - ALlison 1000 is used in US Army tanks
4) Pulling - GM owns the stock and modified classes in truck pulling
5) Roadway uses GM pickup to pull 20,000+ lb trailer on a daily basis
6) 2007 Duramax will have 400+ HP / 800+ lb-ft torque and get 20+ MPG
Need I go on???
Ford will be out of the diesel truck business in the next 2-3 year.
Has anyone noticed that Navistar is getting ready to take another plant shutdown, after taking off 2 weeks in July? Duramax is working 7 days a week to try to keep up.
Ford changes their design every year to try to fix their problems. Duramax has been building this same base engine unchanged for many, many, years.
Both are good trucks. But given a choice, I guess I'd lean toward GM. Its pretty tough to beat GM's Duramax/Allison combo right now. Fords just had too many issues with the 6.0.

I tested just this weekend since deals are at thier best all 3 3500 dooleys and I am buying the Dmax ...
It is by far the more powerfull of the group and also has the better tranny of the 3 - Dodges trannys reputation is really poor if they had a better tranny I would have considered the dodge, especally since they are 12K off sticker..
