C Schomer- If this is a band-aid fix- does that mean that a fire could start even with the *fix*? I'm not being sarcastic, just asking, as this tech stuff is greek to me. If this is the case, I would *think* Dometic could be in a world of legal hurt for future *potential* fires.

My heating element went bad about six months after we bought it and i didn't want to drive the 90 miles just to leave it for a few weeks, wife drove down and picked up the element and i installed it.Now i'm wondering if it was the element that was causing fires or something else but we have a tech coming to our campsite to replace whatever it is.I asked him if we would be required to pay him and he said no.I still have faith in some techs.

Does anyone have a link to the recall information as to which units are recalled?

What happened to the RECALL NOTICE that used to be on top of this forum about Dometics recall? Could have saved these folks Cardinal if it were still there. Like I said, where is it? Forestriver was supposed make sure you got the notice. I received a notice for my Sunnybrook I sold to buy my Cardinal. It came from Sunnybrook, good people.

I have a 2000 Country Coach with Dometic 2 door that is NOT on the recall list. When I went to replace cooling unit, turns out there was a slow fire going on behind the burner tube. It was a Dometic RM1272. I'm now looking at a total refrigerator replacement, but at least the RV didn't burn. Anyone else having this kind of problem?

The Dometic recall has expired. The sticky was removed because it no longer applied. This is being moved from 5th wheels to tech issues.

The recall has been extended, and includes additional mfgr model year dometic refrigerators. Click here to see if yours is included. All you have to do is enter in your model number and serial number and you will find if yours is faulty. I just found that mine (2007 Keystone Everest, manufacturered in 2006) is in fact on the recall list.
If yours shows up after entering the info, there is important information that you NEED to read.

It's posted at the top of nearly every forum in the form of a "sticky"

Yes it is at the top of the Tech Issues as a sticky!! It is there and other post concerning it.
Maybe it should be at the top of all the forums disscussions so it can be seen by all. Not everyone visits the Tech issues forum.
Just a thought.
We don't need anymore disassteres in peoples lives. Fuels are enough.

Note - I have sent Frank a PM advising him that the recall has NOT expired. Mel

So, the fix is a switch installed on the coils.

Does anyone have any more information on this? It is an overheat thermal switch, or what? It sounds like an overheat shut off would be a good idea for any RV fridge.
