We are in North East Kansas and just 2 minutes from the MO border, so we are camping with some folks on the KS Camo group on Melvern at Turkey Point May 3-5th.... hillby, deb, and some others on this thread.. but most of our camping will most likely be close to us.. Like Weston Bend State Park (MO) Smithville Lake (MO), and on the KS side Clinton and Perry Lakes........ oh and I know we will be heading to Branson at least once because we can camp at Treasure Lake for $8.00 a night with our RPI membership........

We are so excited to finally have a camper!!!! Just this morning my 3 year old looked at the ice covered camper in our driveway and asked ARE YOU READY TO GO CAMPING???? LOL......... YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

We are in Wichita, and have a son that is 6. We usually go to Marion reservoir because of the shady spots right on the lake shore, and it is close to us. Council Grove recently redid their sites and they are very nice. We have been to practically every large body of water in the eastern half of the state and seem to have trouble finding decent camp sites with water and shade right on the lake shore. We have a jet ski and friends with boats, so this is important to us. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would be willing to drive a couple of hours if anyone with kids in the 5-10 age range is interested.

Hanneman, we are in Wichita as well. We also have a jet ski with a 7 year old. When we go for a short trip and do not take the ski we go up to Spring Lake RV resort. It is about 2 miles west of Halstead on Highway 50. Tons of activities and many of the older sites have trees. Lots of fishing and a swimming pool as well.

When we go to the SP we usually go to Smarsh Creek at Cheney or Blue Stem at El Dorado since we have family that are camp hosts there.

Smarsh Creek has tons of shade and there is a day use area for the boats and jetskis right across the main road.

Ok, I'm slow and just found this. I am in KC. We camp at Perry all the time as its an hour more or less from the house. I'm willing to go if anyone is willing to have me. If any of you want to know more about Perry, we stay at the north end in Old Town. Its a small place, quiet, only electric, but is just right for our family. I will keep an eye on this one.

I know the Old Town campground because I spent many years being involved with the ABATE of Kansas organization.... My mom and step dad take their 5-r to Slough Creek, and we plan to camp with them a bit this summer......

I can not wait for SPRING!
