Coming from Hw 281 take the 23str exit and turn left under the overpass.

Go straight until you get to the toll bridge - $ 6.- for our tuck and fiver.

Approaching the Mexico border you will see it is under renovation. Four lanes are available, right lane if you have something to declare and 3 lanes for nothing to declare = Carriles sin mercancia que declarar.
Do not get confused by the right lane and the word” trailer” it is meant for 18-weelers.

Approach slowly and watch the light turn either red and a buzzer possibly will go off and you need to stop and someone will come check you out.

If the green / Pase, light comes on you are free to go and you are done.

As soon as you are through you will have to take a left at this intersection and keep to the left of the two lane hw, to get your temporary car import papers.

Pass up the park on your right and keep to your left you will get to the end of the street and turn left up this way.

There is plenty of parking for any size RV.

Take your papers:

3 copies of your :
Drivers Licence, Rv registration, car / truck registration, passports and insurance.
If you do not have copies, you will have to pay for them at the office.
Make sure you also have all the originals of the above.
Most times only 2 copies are needed bud I have my own copier so I carry extras.

Enter / Entrada the building to your left, it has a wheelchair ramp.

1. Show your passport at this window “ Migracion” and they will give you a form / visa to fill out.

Return to the window and when you are done proceed to the Other windows - “Banjercito” to get your import papers.
If you need copies stop at the window : Copias which are one dollar a piece.

Take a NUMBER FROM THE RED DISPENCER, and when your # is displayed it will tell you which cashier “ CAJA” to go too.
Some tellers speak English or will find one that does. Also there are always people getting their papers that are bilingual and are very helpful.

One new thing is that you will have to fill out a RV inventory list of some sort, one for you and one for them.
We paid for the Visa $ 210.- pesos / 21.- US dollars per person.
The big news is we got our fifth wheel permit for 10 years and it cost $ 550.- pesos, ruffle 55.- US dollars.
The truck is still just for as long as you are staying in Mexico on this trip a 180 day maximum, $ 330.- / 33.- Us dollars.

We will have to go back to the US in 3 weeks. We will only have to get a other visa and car permit when we return in January.

Go back to the truck and placed the sticker behind the rear-view mirror. We have a fiver so we where told to just hang onto the Rv sticker/ paper. Which I made a color copy off and placed the original in our save.

Now proceed to the Salidas here.

It is also the same place we will have to return our sticker and visa when we go back in 3 week.
We will go throught this again in January on our returne to Mexico and hopefully have updated pic. on the construction.

Will now work on the rest of the report: How to go Hw 40 and bypass Monterrey to reach Hw 85 and Cd. Victoria.

Silvia

Silvia, can you tell me what sort of RV inventory list they are asking for?? I could make our lives easier and make one up before hand for us. That way if they will not accept the paper I had worked out, we could go faster by using ours as a templete and copy the stuff on their official paper.
Love these post of yours. So visual and I not only like that...I usually NEED that.

swissmiss a great pictorial post for the first timers. Should make things go a lot smoother for them.

I usually camp for a night or two in the states prior to taking the RV into Mexico so I drive the toad over to take care of all the paperwork.
Thanks for the heads up about the RV inventory, it's the first time I've heard anything about it.

One thing I'm curious about is your comment:

As both your entry visa and vehicle permits are good for 180 days with no entry/exit restrictions within that time period, I'm curious about your captioned statement. Are you bringing back another vehicle or additional people?

Here is the list:
Computer, Television, DVD, Water purifier, Air Conditioner, Radio CB, Sound System, Stove, Microwaves, Dish Washer, Dish Dryer :>, Washing Machine, Hand Dryer :>, Tools, Jack, and a couple " Other" where we put our printer.

This was the list we wehre handed to fill out. One colum for yes or no and a colum how many. They called it : Register form for Accesories and Equipment for the Motor Home.
