On many Ford products the switch for the heated seats can be found on the dash or the door panel with the locks and window controls. Oh but not the trucks, they are on the side of the seat where you can't even see them.

I have had times where the passenger has left it on or accidentally bumped it on and I can't tell.
On my last F-250 and now the F-350 I have moved them to a better location for our use. Three years and no problems.
(the switches are between the seats)

Hi,
I have a 04 F250 and I know exactly what you mean. Half the time when I am adjusting the seat blindly, I accidently hit it and turn it on and then I have a hot butt for a while. Not what I want in So. California. And of course you can not see if it is on or not!

Now that I am using mine on a more regular basis, I have to agree. Dumbest location ever... the engineer responsible for that location choice should be dope slapped.

it is definitely a stupid location for the switch...BUT, the DUMBEST thing is that the switch doesnt reset to off when you shut off the truck...if the passenger turns it on, leaves, and no one sits in the seat (to tell you its hot)...it can stay on heat mode for weeks on end!

It appears that, as the children's song says, we all have "hot, cross buns"!

on my 2006 f150 they are on the dash below the radio. On the sport trac they were the same buttons pictured on the side of the seat.

Spott, how did you relocate the switches (or did you add additional switches in parallel?) What are the switches mounted to?

I don't know what that is but sure let him/her have it.

All I did to move them was unplug the harness'
pop out the switches
undo a harness clip under the seat
plug the switch back into the harness
slide the switch between the seats
There is no mount and if you move a seat forward or back the switch will roll between the seats. It's not perfect but like I said it has worked for us for three years. What I would like to do is find a harness extension and mount the switches in the dash.

Dope Slap - A light "whappp" to the back of the head, done with an open palm in an upward motion. The physical equivalent of the phrase, "Whatta you, a moron?!"
