What is your opinion, what is the best GPS Unit. I have two Magellan Units and 300 and a 700. I am happy with the 300 but the 700 has been nothing but a pain in the behind. I want to know what you consider the best as I am considering replacing my 700 with something else. I am looking for a GPS Unit - Not a laptop based one such as Street Atlas or Streets & Trips. If you were in my shoes what would you pick as a replacement for my Roadmate 700. Thanks in advance!

I can tell you this. I just purchased the TomTom 700 and it works excellent. Having said that, I paid over $500 for it and know there are cheaper ones that do darn near close to all the things this one does so...shop around.

Well, the "best" is arguably the Garmin G1000. It is a little pricey tho at about 25,000 installed. Then again you could buy a Garmin 530 for about 15,000 installed. That said, you could always stay away from these aviation units and get a Garmin 7200 for your motorhome - for just under 900.

Without doubt the Garmin Units.

Great support. They update for problems quickly.

Have been around for a long time and the leader in the GPS market.

I like the Streetpilot series.

Not sure its the best but I love my Garmin 7200.This is the one with the 7 inch screen.I had a Garmin 2610 and it was also very nice, but the larger screen was an awesome up-grade.

If you are looking for something similar ins size to the Magellan. Wal-Mart still has the Street Pilot 2720 for $550.

Put me down for the Garmin 7200 too! With the 7" screen, it's nice to be able to see it without having to squint; they've also got a SERIOUSLY sexy Austrialian voice option - I'd go ANYWHERE that gal told me to!

I just got the garmin 340, for under $350. Small screen (3.5"), but my eyes can see it just fine. Clear vocals for turns using street names. Great little unit. I didn't care for suction mount, so upgraded to weighted dash mount, more stable and much easier to transfer from rv to toad. Good luck, Kathy

I've had Garmin Streetpilots ever since they first came out. Used Magellans and Lowrances at work, both were inferior to the Garmins at the same price. We have the 2610 now and it works great with the external antenna stuck to the windshield. The remote and the touchscreen make it easy to use and very accurate for RV's if you set the preference to "trucks". Next Garmin will be the 7200, have heard nothing but good things about it.
