We have never camped at a race, and thought we might try it for the October race at Talladega. Which place is better to camp? I don't particularly want to be in the middle of the wet t-shirt contests and such. Been there, done that. I don't mind some partying, I'm sure there will be alot of that, and we won't have kids with us. For all of you who have been there, where would you recommend? It will have to be somewhere where we can make reservations. Not sure when we would arrive. We went to both races at Daytona for years, quit going there after my Dad died. He loved it so much, not sure I can ever go back to Daytona without him. However, we still love the races, and Talladega is fairly close. Thanks!

Cindik, we stayed at the Talladega RV Park last October race. 50 amp and water. Honey dippers there everday when you need them or you can use the dump station. Sites were big, approx. 30 x 65. I think cost was $ 280.00 for the week. This is a private campground owned by the family that once owned all the property that the track sits on. Easy walk to and from the track, less than a half mile. They have a website www.talladegarvpark.com. As far as behavior, there were some people that insisted on showing others they don't get out much by making a lot of noise through the night, but, you're not going to a retirement party to start with. The Park opens Monday before the race, we got there Wednesday afternoon and the place was about 10% full, Friday evening was pretty well filled. We'd stay there again.

Call Talladega Superspeedway (1-877-462-3342) and ask them to send you their latest "Official Fan Information" booklet. It has camping information in it or just ask them what reservations they have available for RVs.

we stay in the Reserved B section -- I think it's up to $65 for the week. We used to stay in the no-reserverd areas-- that's the real party areas, but I would rather site waiting for me than trying to find a place Friday night in the dark. The reservers sections are still go parties. It's a very short walk to the stands (<5 minutes). No hook ups, but they have ice wagons, water wagons and pump out trucks constantly riding through the camp. You can look at their website and get the layout . Call them now if you want a space !
I went to Talladega in the spring of 05 and camped at a reserved lot next to the track. I bought the pass through a Nascar website that is for Nascar fans selling tickets and campsites to other Nascar fans. I think it was called Racers Exchange or something to that affect. In any event, there was no chance of buying a decent reserved spot directly from the track so I bought it from a fan that couldn't attend the race and it was the best thing I could have done. I was close to the track, amongst great people and didn't have to endure the all night partying. If you wanted to walk and check out the extra curricular activities you could do that. I highly recommend doing some searching online and spending a few extra bucks to get into one of the reserved lots. It's well worth the money. I don't know if you've ever been to Talladega but I'm sure you know the track is huge so the campsites are huge as well. You could literally be 5 miles away from the track so try to get close. Good luck.
