i hear that skidaway state park is good - but they only provide elect/water on site - so not sure if that is enough --- we have made reservations for that park for the start of april 07.

if you go here, let me know how it was --- have a great vacation

thanks

Charleston------James Island County Park....wonderful park and campground close to the attractions in Charleston.

Savannah....I would suggest going a few miles south to Richmond Hill, GA and staying at Fort McAllister State Park....very nice and only 10 miles off the Interstate....the fort is quite interesting and the park is easily accessible to the sites in Savannah.

James Island County Park is the gold standard for the Charleston area, not sure about Savannah.

Wow! Two replys in less than a minute. Thanks to both for the suggestions. Bolla, you will be there before me, I'm going the last of April.

Anybody else? Where else can you get answers this quick. This is a great site.

Good advice, I found Ft McCallister more to my liking and it was a very easy drive into Savannah, will be headed to James Island CP March 17 for 5 days to tour Charleston.

We've been at Lake Aire RV Park and Campground in Hollywood, just over the line from Charleston for a couple of months. We like the location and the price is right.

Oak Plantation CG just south of Charleston is fine. Stayed there last spring and again in the fall. Some don't like their pet policies, but no one seemed upset about them when we were there. Check out www.rvparkreviews.com for more input.
Enjoy your visit.

We think that Oak Plantation in Charleston is the best place to stay. Been there many times. Happy Camping!!!

We are going to stay at Hilton Head Marina RV Resort and drive into Savannah next month (about 45 minutes). YOu might want to look into that option.
