I'm looking for a generator to run my 13,500 btu a/c. I like the eu 3000 , but it's like 150 lbs and large . Two eu 2000's only weigh 100 lbs total. What would be a better setup? Thanks

My sis has (2) 2000's and can pick them up herself to store away, or set-up, I have 1 now and when I get a few extra bucks I'll get another gen set, along with the 4000 watt conector. it might be a little costly but I can lift them into my trailer or truck with ease.

I have "twin" EU2000is (with a homemade auxiliary fuel tank and homemade parallel cables). I love them. They do everything I want them to do.

After saying that, I probably would have bought the Yamaha 2400 if they had been out when I bought mine. If I was going to run a 13.5 AC with one generator, I would definitely go to the Yamaha 2400.

The only advantage I see to the 3000 is the fact that they have electric start and some of the vendors are outfitting them with remote starters. It would be nice to start and stop the generators without going outside, especially late at night or early in the morning.

The down side of either of the 3000's (Yamaha or Honda) is the weight. They are very heavy to be wrestling alone.

When my grown kids were inspecting our new fifth wheel, one asked why we bought a trailer that sleeps 4. My reply was that we couldn't find one that sleeps 2!

I remember the story I was told in Yuma last year a man bought 2 2000 hondas at the r.v. show went back to the 5er and filled them with oil&gas and the wife called him to supper. The last time he saw them a man was running to a pick up and leaving town at high speed.I know the 3000is would still be there. And I own one heavy Yes but does a great job also.Bushman

Right now we have one of the Honda EU2000i genny's and will eventually get the second when the need arises. I like that they're easier to handle in & out of the truck. Also, if I want to run something smaller I only have to pull out one genny, not both or deal with the bigger one.

Either way I don't think you'll go wrong....

We have the 3000 heavy yes, but the wife and I have no problem lifting it into the back of our Jeep GC. I had not thought about it being harder to steel due to the size and weight sounds like a plus to me. I also like the electric start with the wireless remote. I do cable lock it to the tongue. Sorry to say theft seems to be on the rise every where.

I have 2 of the 2000's, and my dad has the 3000. He really wishes he would have got the same set up as I did. I can lift them both with ease. He needs someone to help lifting it in and out of the truck. I cable lock mine to the rear bumper so no one is tempted to theive them. Even if I had the 3000 I would still lock it up, if someone wants it they'll take it no matter how heavy it is. I just hope the cable slowes them down enough for me to show up. Good luck on your choice, I'm sure you'll love which ever setup you go for.

Actually if I had to only have one genset it would be the EF3000iSE/B Yamaha genset. You get the extra 500 watts from it's battery for starting surges, the electric start.
While it does weigh a few more pounds than the Honda EU3000is (151 versus 134 dry weights) the extra wattage is worth it to me.
As to what I would have without limits it would have to be a paired EU2000i's with the 30 amp twining adapter and external fuel tank for extended runs.
We've looked at the new Yamaha EF2400i, but while it will run the majority of rooftop AC's it leaves little extra for any other 120 volt applications.
JMHO but if you have to have a genset it might as well allow you some creature comforts other than just the AC.

We love our Yamaha 3000. If I had to do it all over again, I'd get the Yamaha, again. Power to spare. Have an aluminum two piece motorcycle ramp that is just wide enough to roll the generator into and out of the truck by myself. Without the ramp, this would probably be a different story.

I have the Honda EU 3000 and I've mounted on the E2 deck as shown below. In addition to the cable/lock, I've bolted it to the deck and it takes a special wrench and two persons to remove the bolts. Yes it is heavy but I'm sure some one could remove it if they had enough time, an axe and brute force.

Hummer H2 - Black (DW vetoed the Yellow one, but I got two Yellow Hummer Folding Mountain bikes )
