Chris, hope this helps:

I'm not the one this should be addressed to, Larry. I didn't coordinate it with you, get the camp together, rent the field/pavilion, and pumped up our troops to go to the field ready to meet our friends.

I just showed up with a glove. LOL

Regardless, I don't think it'll be planned again for next year. I guess it's our own fault for trying to put a Rally (planned) activity into a 'gathering' environment.

Cheers!

I can see this going downhill.

Reminds me of the day at the field though.

Well, at least Scott Jr. had a great weekend at DB!

That is so we can pay a toll on the freeway.

These are questions i have always pondered myself...to the point that it makes my head hurt to think about them!! LOL

I learned of an issue from the folks who Scott was camping with at DB Memorial Day weekend.

The pools were not open the whole weekend. The water slide was but not the pools.

Now what kind of 'season opening' is that? The last time I had an experience like that was the former Yogi On The River in the Susquehanna Valley after a hurricane many years ago. There were issues with electric and cable service and the new pool/water slide was not open for our late June week of camping 8 months after the flooding. That was not good.

The six families that camped as a group (five are ROOS) have decided not to return to DB and promptly went over to Round Top on Monday at Noon and got six sites. The price of the sites at DB was also a factor, hitting $70.

Just information, not an editorial.

Wow. Too bad that they had such a bad experience Gosh, I guess we all got lucky with the rally this year? LOL! I'm sure glad we didn't have to deal with any problems like that.

Scott - you guys paid $70/night at DB for the rally? We only paid $37 for Wed and Thursday and $42 for Fri/Sat...why so much difference? The rally was pre-season and shouldn't have been $70.

Debinese...

No, you are accurate. My friends were lamenting about the price going to $70 (even for that time in the season).

I certainly do not pretend to know if the pool problem was last minute or a lack of proper planning.

My feeling is we go to CGs to enjoy the benefits of their amenities, not unlike a resort in any form or fashion. When one is paying for those amenities (cable, Wi-Fi, pool) and they are not working properly, especially when paying top dollar, that does create ill will.

I also recall an issue with the dumpsters not being emptied in our area. Sporoo even made mention of same to the office. Over Memorial Day I was advised that not only were they full but some were chained shut, I guess since they were full. I realize it was a holiday weekend but that is not our problem as guests who need to dump their trash.

I hate to say it but DB has really been stung by issues and bad public relations, despite the best front put on by Beverly for our rally. I am not an old timer with RV.Net but I have been hitting CGs since 1990. I used to go to DB twice a year with at least one week in there every couple of years. The changes at DB do not appear to be positive.

Oh, well that makes more sense - I was hoping you didn't pay that for the rally. It definitely is strange that the pool wouldn't be open on Memorial Day weekend...that is when you expect them to be open! What a bummer!

$70 a night... YIKES! We'd be elsewhere.

I was probably one of a few who wanted to use the WiFi, but, could not around our area. DB isn't truly responsible for the WiFi at the CG, but, I would have been on the phone to the vendor about the routers around our area.

I, also, mentioned the full dumpsters numerous times. To Beverly, other management at the front office and one of the workers riding around in a golf cart. You remember him. He was the one riding around.... and around... and around.... He must have been a supervisor. LOL

We had a great time again this year with all of our gang. If the decision is to return there next year, we'll probably attend. But, if we decide to join the gang at the Gettysburg CG, I won't lose any sleep over it. It's all about us getting together and having a good time.

Scott, Gay says she's sorry she didn't get down to meet the Mrs. Hopefully, by the Elk Neck rally, or, hopefully sooner. If we can afford the gas.
