This weekend is The Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival. I honestly had NO idea what it was, but my best friend lives there and says its a good time. Might be something to check out, I know I'll be there.

As for campgrounds, my favorite is Montana Creek Campground, the owners are awesome, its always clean, and pleasant. We usually stay there several times during the summer.

We were at the Moose Drop Festival this weekend also. Talkeetna is a great place to visit...although my first negative experience there was a the specialty chocolate store on the end. They evidently don't like children much at all and she spoke quite harshly to my son twice. He had a jawbreaker in his mouth and she told him he had to leave and he couldn't touch anything. He left and came back without the jawbreaker and wanted to buy an item there and she saw him touch it and scolded him. I should mention my son is ten and has manners in a store. I should have known from the sign they had up saying, "Pets welcome, Children need to be on a leash". I was offended at her attitude toward my son and will not be going back to that particular store again.

Please don't judge Alaskans by her. Most of the tourist shopkeepers and many of the campground folks in Alaska aren't from here. They live out of state, come here for the summer to make their money, and then they fly home. Many don't care about Alaska or the impression they make, just the almighty dollar.
