We used the stock tie down points. Details on tie down construction and tie down to storage box seals are in album 25 at: http://www.hackneys.com/mitsu/index-buildup-photos.htm

One design requirement was that the camper be removable for service or repair. We hope to never have to take if off again, but if we need to, we can.

That is REALLY something! Great concept and exceptional design...I have a friend that will be going to go NUTS over your project...I will send him the link. He has been talking about building something very similar to your Expedition Vehicle.
I could only look for so long myself...the wife would leave me for sure if I bring another new camper home!
Great job guys and thanks for the pics, the coolest thing I have seen in a long time!
Happy Expeditions!

Douglas,
Center of gravity height: 58.92" / 149.657cm (estimated based on tilt test)
Question: Occasionally we have people ask how to estimate the vertical CG of their rigs. Can you give us some insight on how you performed the tilt test and arrived at your number?
Camper & storage box frame: three point pivot
Pivot frame suspension: 50/50 Fox shocks
Question: What is meant by pivot frame?
Front winch: 16,500 lbs. / 7,484 kilos
Rear winch: 16,500 lbs. / 7,484 kilos
Question: What brand winches are you running?
Cool rig, but I strongly disagree with the following statement: “Project complete Sunday 3 June, 2007 ~8PM PDT / 0300 GMT / Zulu”. You know that projects like these are never really complete.
Thanks,
Brad

It's absolutely Beautiful.
Well Done.
Are there permanent mount steps or a ramp that come out for camper door access?
What 3rd world countries and why?
One thing I don't like is no way to start and drive away quickly (under attack emergency) while camped. This could be improved with a roof hatch in both the camper and cab. At least that way you don't have to go out the camper door and run around.

Doug,
I've been following your progress on a couple of other forums. Thanks for your detailed reports, they are very valuable for a lot of folks interested in the expedition vehicle concept. I've always said my business has been a "very expensive education" and I'm sure thats been the case here as well, so thanks for sharing! You are to be commended for documenting the good, the bad, and the ugly. Good luck with the rig and your travels!
