AAh, memories! I stayed in the parking lot of the phone comapny when it was Contel and I was doing work there. I had a 24 foot Kit Sportsmaster TT. The Heady Hotel was the place to stay and staying on the spit cost nothing. Darn, sometimes changing times don't make it better.

$75 is just way too much to pay.

We plan on staying at Alaskan Angler the month of July, it is close enough to Homer and the rates are much better. This is our choice for halibut fishing also.

Look us up if anybody is going there in July. Grey mh w/white Honda toad.

We'll be at the Alaskan Angler from tomorrow - we have initially booked for a week.

We live in Homer and I cannot believe that Heritage charge that much and are ALWAYS full! Others have already mentioned most of the alternatives. Or you could always check out Anchor Point - 15 miles away(some sites have views of the volcanoes a bit further away than the bay/mountains in Homer) and just make daytrips to the spit/Homer town.

Heritage was almost empty last year when we were there, at $75 I wasn't surprised. Bout nearly as bad was the $15 a day to dry camp on the Spit + $5 to dump. I guess if you are wanting to use the "Fishing Hole" it would be OK.

We passed on the opportunity to stay in Homer, stayed in Ninilchik at the Alaskan Angler RV Resort. Really enjoyed the people and the small town atmosphere. Our fishing day was a bust, but the captain knocked at the door of our rig a few hours after we got back, and gave us a gift of about five lbs. of Halibut fillets!

We are staying at Alaskan Angler at the moment - here for a week. It's a great park. We checked out Homer today and I agree.... nothing there that we liked. Either too pricey or didn't have the utilities that we were looking for. I must say the view from the City Campground on the Spit is awesome!! Not bad parks - it's just our preference, different strokes for different folks. We did find a super small campground in Anchor Point - Kyllonen RV Park - which will take us just 15 miles out of Homer - so we can still spend time in Homer when we want to.

Thanks - we took your advice and found Kyllonen RV Park in Anchor Point.

We were at the Spit this afternoon - at Heritage RV Park they had 16 sites occupied out of 81. I guess that's what happens if you charge $75 per night. It's a shame, as it looks like a super park.

This will our first trip. August 11 - 20, just one or two overnights in the Homer area, maybe Ninilchik. Do I really need to make reservations?

2006 we dry camped in an rv park right next to the Fishing Hole. The one in the same parking area as the red barn, the one that has the "Theater" sign on it. Don't recall the name. We didn't have reservations and the price was great. It was dry camping with a fee and had a dump station. If you have to have hookups, this probably won't work but its pretty cheap camping on the Spit

Went by Heritage this morning, and there was maybe a dozen folks in it. Am currently staying at Ocean View for $43 tax included.
Surely cant beat the one we stayed at last night up the road at Ninilchik $15 great food, great campsite, and great fishing. Country Boy, if anyone is interested.
