A week ago I asked to see your bunks that are homemade. Mine is COMPLETELY different, and so far is solid. I had my 10 year old 85 lb daughter suspend herself on the one rail that I have done so far, and there is no noticeable deflection. Tomorrow I will build the other rail and go look into picking up the fabric I will need for the bed surface.

She will be sleeping roughly 20" above her brother on a 28" wide suspended bed. The main portion of it is made out of 1" x .095" DOM steel tube.

The coolest thing about this bed is that I can hide the entire setup between my queen mattress and the front cap area completely out of sight. And the area it occupies over the dinette will be disguised as part of decor when I am done, so even that won't be a give away.

I'll get pictures up when we find the camera. It went on a field trip this morning. Not sure where it ended up.

Yeah, I can't wait to see the pics either. I'll probably have to do something similar for the grandkids soon.

Bending the tube!

Matching up my chalk-O-matic drawing.

New top to the dinette backs. Took a slight *Gulp* factor to hack through the fabric below for the holes.

See what I mean?

See the lower rest below. A pole will center down there to eliminate side to side movement.

Said pole.

Bed frame construction complete. Just need to go get some fabric to make the bed surface with. As well as removing the oak top units for finishing. Also, have the tubes powder coated. Not sure if Black, Green or White would be best?

So, need to run a router around the outside of the oak, and I need to stain the oak with the same color as what Interior RV does on everything else. Sew up a fabric bed, and powder coat the tubes.

I haven't weighed this yet, but my 20# dog seems to weigh more than all this tube and poles do. The poles are made up of wood dowel and PVC tubing.

We'll be giving a weeks test next week at Henry's Lake Idaho to see if anything needs adjusted before I do any finishing.

THAT'S SWEET!
Nice looking job. My suggestion if you haven't thought of it already is to run a bead of rubber cement or something around those holes when you do the final install to keep the fabric from fraying. I would have been nervous cutting the fabric too, cause it looks like its under some tension.

I think you just blew your lifetime warranty. (unless you get a job in the Bud factory, of course) Nice job though.

You're a funny, funny little man!

Got the canvas and hope to have it completed later tonight.

It will be similar to this picture. Minus the slots along the sides for the legs. Same color even!
