I don’t want to make this sound like a whine but … We have been RVing for the past 6 years. We travel all over the country and rely heavily on some of the standards that have been established in the RV community.
If there is one thing required for a positive RV experience it is flexibility. I understand you need to “roll with the punches”. But, it is troubling when you select a 7.5,8,7 rated RV park only to find out there is 2 ft. between units. We are currently staying in an RV park in Colorado Springs (I won’t mention the name). The park is rated 7.5,8,7 and I honestly would give it no better than a 5,6,5. They have about 10 more units in here than it was designed to hold. It is located right on Hwy. 24, no grass, little shade. We walk are dog around Taco Bell in the morning. You get the picture ….
This is disappointing because we are spending a week in Colorado Springs and being such a beautiful area, I guess I was expecting much more. Should these things be mentioned to Woodall’s / Trailer Life? Thanks for letting me whine. Happy RVing

Yes! Bring it to their attention....something may or may not get done...most likely not..... If the park is that full then they are not going to change anything... If people quit going....that will get action.
When we travel, we don't reserve...There have been many CG;s I've drove into and right out of.... While we are in an area in the toad I never pass a CG without doing a tour.....we might come across a nicer one or one we will not bother with.....

We only reserve in COE or NFS campgrounds for our destinations. For overnights I have park info available and will phone an hour or two before arrival to check availability.
I know approximately where we'll be and I use RVParkReviews.com , this forum, Trailer Life Directory and the Internet.
Some of the earlier posts in RVParkReviews may or may not have been made by the park owners or family members. Some of the reviews are inconsistent but I check them all thoroughly.
Yes, I've been disappointed a few times but they were only overnights.

Although we have occasionally been disappointed with a Woodall's rated campground the ratings seem to be pretty fair overall. It is certainly better than picking blind.
One thing I'm always suspicious of in/on Woodalls....Does the campground have a big add in the book also? They (Woodall's) would be shooting themselves in the foot for poorly rating a paying advertiser. I take all ratings/opinions with a grain of skepticism. Your idea of perfect and anyone else's are often very different.

this reminds me of one of our trips through the redwoods. We left Yosemite and got to the CG and found a park that was well rated near the southern end. Long story short, it may have been a x.x.x in the summer. In the fall, winter or Spring it was about 5 points lower, wouldn't recommend it or stop there again.
I do not rely on Trailer Life ratings to make a choice. However, I find RV park descriptions and travel directions useful.

You're just discovered why any rating system based on "opinions" is pretty worthless unless you happen to have the same criteria and values for a particular item. Good luck / Skip

I agree!
IMHO, being disappointed with a rating is the same thing as being disappointed when someone doesn't have the same opinion you do.
It happens, and there's really not much you can do about it.
Solution? Learn to live with it, get over it, and move on.
You could, of course, rely less upon the source that has disappointed you and begin to rely more on other sources (like RVParkReviews.com, this Forum, GoCampingAmerica, etc.).

We use those guides very little. I have found this website to be much more helpful in getting recommendations. We also use www.rvparkreviews.com and www.thatscamping.com.
