I want to hear directly from current and previous Keystone RV owners who have experienced problems with any make and model of Keystone, especially the Zeppelin II 291 model. I own a 2006 Zeppelin II and have had in the dealership twice for the same problem the slideout cables and pulleys.

Please visit my site for Keystone RV's and problems at

http://www.begnal-enterprises.com/keystone-zeppelin-II.htm and click on E-Mail Me to send me your personal experience/issues with a Keystone RV.

Extremely disappointed, Doc in Salt Lake Valley

Not exactly… with a Cougar 294, 2007.

This is the list of what we experienced…. In bullet form, to save time and Internet bandwith… in no order. The TT is a month old or so and we have travelled about 4,000 miles.

• Furnace did not work
• One tire separated after 300 miles, all others within 3000… Milestar brand; we saw it on time before we had an accident.
• Lost the spare tire cover as the elastic band was stale (a good Samaritan saw this and returned it to us…)
• Lost the end caps of the rear bumper and all the hoses within (twice)
• Some blinds do not work/jam and somewhat look bad
• DVD does not work
• Door between bedroom and bathroom could not be opened until some covers for showers pipes were removed
• Same door went loose a few times while travelling and fell on the bed
• Various cabinets opened in travel, requiring strapping to prevent it
• The main kitchen drawers sliders are flimsy and the drawers fall on the floor
• The water pump was DOA (Dead on Arrival). (I replaced it with a better one and will have to adjust the actual piping to follow the pump’s manufacturer’s instructions for installation. Later…)
• Not Keystone, but the dealer: at Camping World they installed a 12,000 pound Reese hitch with a 6,000 pound ball…for a 10,000 pound trailer. I had to tell them to fix it and they charged me extra for the larger ball. Highly recommend NOT using Camping World.
• The valves for the Black and Grey water are mislabeled… shows how much quality control there is at Keystone. The Black water tank valve handle broke… (I meant the Grey water)
• The bedroom screen door handle came in without a spring, I had to replace it.

We have been travelling about 2 and half weeks: on average, we had one problem per travelling day…

On a good note: the fridge, the AC and all the lights are OK…

Is there a way we can get Keystone recognize that it has a hell of a QA problem. And I cannot say that the Cougar is inexpensive.

I am willing to get something going with you and others, not to get reparation, but to start a campaign to hurt them as they hurt each of us.

WOW!!! So far so good here. I tightened some screws on the cabinet doors & I expected that. The only thing so far that bothers me is there are no drawers. The 2 that do slide in the kitchen are behind a cabinet door. I went thru the Keystone forum looking for any problems. We're camping again this weekend so I'll check for some of these things. I hate to think you have lots of problems with a new TT.

I have a 2007 Cougar 29BHS. Have had it for about a month.

The outside range, thumb latches, and keylock were rusted and corroded beyond belief. Dealer knew this when I took delivery on July 23rd and I am still missing parts.

Tires were Milestar and I called Dealer to have them swapped.

BIG ISSUE -
Currently at the dealer for some serious******workmanship.
Driver side front corner and Pass. Rear corner exterior walls are cut too short and have gaps where the wall should meet the molding to the roof along the radius of the corner. Found this out during a rain storm and heard dripping.

Just dropped the trailer off at the dealer yesterday and am waiting to hear what the "FIX" is. Dealer said they can remove the molding and replace with a larger molding. I guess that would be better than Silicone Caulk! :/

No other major issues.

I repaired the plastic glide for the bottom of the Bunkhouse door. Amusing to me that anyone would just blow a screw into wood paneling.. that has to endure some force during travel and use... And think it will hold. I drilled the hole out and put in an anchor.

The bottom of the Clothes cabinet in the bunkhouse caved in. Hlaf the staples that were used missed the support piece on one side. I fixed that with some 1/2" screws.

The blinds SUCK especially on the windows that have a crank knob and the hard window beautification thing. Dang near impossible to get the blinds down over it... Not a huge issue though.

I have lost 2 of the stupid bumper caps as well. Duct taped one and lost the other side on the way to the dealer. No hoses lost though.

There are a number of little things that I have noticed that I think are off.. but they are small and trivial, especially when you have to consider this IS a US mass produced unit.

Aside from the gaps in the exterior corners.. I was VERY happy overall. My happiness factor will be determined soon by how Keystone says they want to fix this latest issue.

You have 2 drawers in the cabinet? We only have 1! We also have a 280BH. I wish we had 2.

We are looking at trading our 2006 ZII-241 in for the Passport 284RL. We have had virtually no problems with our ZII. What little ones we had were underwarrenty when fixed and that was over a year ago. We go in our a lot so are thankful. We loved the 241 but like the 284RL layout since we are traveling for longer periods of time than we had thought we would be.
Heater problem in 284? Use a small ceramic space heater. It is electric so doesn't use your LP and you can move it around as needed. We never use the heater in the unit. Our space heater is great and will use it in the 284 if we get it. We are still negotiating with the dealer (and with ourselves).
Sorry some are having problems. Would love to hear from people that are as happy with theirs as we are.

So far we have had minor issues like the ac keeps freezing up not keystones fault , one cabinet wont stay shut during travel , blinds , screen on front door was pushed and the door its self needs adjusted , floor has a squeek in it by the dinnette but them are all minor issues . I hope i was some help .

My wife and I just spent the last 5 years in a camper that's been nothing but problems since the day we bought it. We started shopping for a new camper last week. Until now, the 285RL was at the top of the list. After working my way through this thread, I'm now a little wary about Keystone. I really don't want to invest in another piece of junk. Thanks for the reviews.

Can anyone suggest a quality rear living ultralite similar in design to the 285RL?

Have you looked at the JayFeather? It doesn't have the exact same floorplans, but we liked what we saw at a recent rv show.

We purchased a Freedom Lite 279tb (passport 280bh) and have had it out many times this year. The only issue we had had is the Black tank handle broke off. A quick call and that was replaced.

Based upon info from the these forums, I already sturdied up the sofa arm...

Got a call from thier service department, seems they noticed some seam tape missing during thier pre PDI inspection (we didn't notice) and they are sending it to me. nice.

We really like the unit and so far, all is well.
