My volunteering at Give2TheTroops.org here in Eastern NC keeps me in mind of what a sacrifice it is for all serving in combat zones. "We are in a very remote area, tents, eating out of cans mainly. Really miss Krispies Treats." Just an example of one. We can't keep Krispies on the shelves they go so fast I wrote Kellogg a letter, will see. I'm also after PetSmart as we send fun stuff along for pets when we hear from a K9 Corps unit. It's a privilege to be able to participate in sending care packages during the holidays and all year. This a big endeavor, national groups, think ours alone shipped over 300 last month. Now it's been mini tree's, decorations, stockings stuffed with goodies. Very heartwarming to see bunches of folks all ages working to support all branches...our troops

Tell anyone deployed to go to website and sign themselves up. We keep going year round so back at it in 2008 until they ALL come home!

Merry Christmas to one and all!!!!

Had heard on news recently deployed Army tours were going to one year duration. Here's letter addressed to troops and families.

Really good news.

That is really good news. 1 year is quite enough. Our son is currently at Ft.Benning. He is in his 10 week of OSUT-infantry. He graduates May 23-then Airborne, and Rangers, graduating Aug.22. He reports to Ft.Benning on Sept.29, and will be in the 3rd. Rangers division. From what I have read, they are the most deployed unit. So, please keep him in your prayers.

Our son wrapping up a year in Korea in July. Has orders to report to Ft Benning then Iraq but think early 2009 date. No matter what gets in the news, we hear from troops overall things are much better over there. God speed to them all.

My dau and SIL have served in Iraq. Dau will probably return to Iraq for a 3rd Tour later this year. Let's Pray that they are treated better than the way the Vietnam Era Vets have been.
